heh thx.
well, i've been modeling for about 5 years so the experience definately adds to that. my models probably looked the same as you're describing yours as when i first started, beginners tend to use primitive (default) shapes and try to form models w/ them but the key to modeling is really extrusions and beveling.

I use Blender3d to model but I don't actually know if it has a bevel function or not (it does have extrusion though). I only started modelling early this year, so I'm trying to get some tips from other exp modellers. I hope someday to make something marginally equal to your model's quality.
