Homo darwinius, Titans, Emissaries, Wardens, Hybrids, Halfbloods - there are many names for these giant beings, and most of them are misnomers. For one, they are not human… not in the strictest sense of the word at least. Having been created from human and Darwinian genetic stock, they are hybrid beings made to survive the harsh conditions on Darwin IV while still possessing a human-level intellect.

Despite the Yma’s best intentions and their policy of non-interference on Darwin IV, they were not able to fully sway the minds of humans. Unscrupulous and desperate, small parts of the criminal underbelly slowly began exploiting the natural richness of the planet to make a profit on the black market. As poaching and illegal mining operations became more and more frequent, the Wardens were first created to be permanently stationed on Darwin IV in order to put an end to it. Thanks to their hybrid physiology, they do not require breathing apparatuses or protective gear, giving them a clear advantage over poachers.
