Description
Sorry for the pixelized gif quality...it's blurry enough to start with but jpeg made it ridiculously blurry. So yes, another copic tutorial from me, focusing more in detail on the face for my last drawing. Hope you guys find it useful.Related content

totally agree about using the lightest color i have no idea why they made the blender it just makes the picture look fuzzy : ( while using a lighter color makes it blend better 8D

What kind of paper did you use?
What kind of paper do you usually use and/or recommend that won't soak up all of the ink out of your Copics?

I used Canson Bristol board papers...generally any Bristol board will do. I also like to use watercolor paper about 90lbs or so. If you like a smooth look to copics, go with Bristol, if you want some more control and interesting texture, try watercolor.

Will Canson board papers soak up the ink out of the pen and make it run out faster? I also heard that watercolor paper makes Copics run out quickly as well.

Well..i think its one way or the other, unless you want to spend the money on specific "Marker Paper" which can sometimes be waay overpriced. But here's the breakdown
Thick Paper such as watercolor and bristol- markers run out fast but while you're drawing the paper will stay "wet" long enough to blend colors beautifully.
Thinner paper anywhere form your regular printer paper, etc. will definitely soak up color beautifully and stay wet longer, buuuuuut, it's horrible for bleeding, and especially irritating when you're trying to get a nice , crisp contrast. But true, they wont use up the copic ink as fast.
So...yah...its an eternal battle here. If you can find some sort of a compromise without spending loads then please do let me know. : )
I hope that was somewhat helpful

Lol, daaang, Copics are harder to deal with than I thought! Well, I'm experimenting with a brand called BumbleBee, and it's made for use with Copics as well, but it cost me about 9.50$. <.<
Thanks for the advice, and I'll let you know if I found anything that's a fair compromise. Thanks a lot!

oh oh! and um... is there a website around where you can buy them? (im too lazy tah look )
or can you buy them at a craft store like Michaels?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
juri0juli In reply to feyodic [2008-04-17 11:51:37 +0000 UTC]
Michaels unfortunately doesn't have them. I live in Ontario and I either go to a place in Toronto or Hamilton to get them. (not sure if that tells you anything) Otherwise you can try websites...ebay maybe? And as for paper I use thick bristol as it doesn't bleed and if fairly cheap.

Lol, I'm also near oakville and I buy mine from a small store in Hamilton called "Mixed Media" (It's right downtown). I had no idea that Curry's sells them..? I haven't been to the one in Mississauga in ages though so i wouldn't really know. How much are they sold for there? (Mixed Media sells them for 7.20 but they also have all the airbrushing systems and the owner is just the nicest guy I've ever met) : )

shackled-ghost In reply to juri0juli [2008-05-02 16:20:16 +0000 UTC]
so mixed media sells them for 7.20 apiece, well currys sells them for around 3.57 i bought a basic set of 12 for $37, so I guess all is good.

lol no worries! I live in England but i found them from a website . [link] i think they ship all over...not sure. They are about £1.75 each...which considering if i can even find a shop which sells them over here they are still about £3.80....so they are a cheap alternative for me but depending where you live may not be for you
