Description
ok, so continuing with the SpideyHulk, this is pages 2 and 3. I got really into it at this point and I wanted to go all out. I've been struggling as of late with the fact that I can't land a gig and I think that my frustration came out on this page. I'll tell you though, it's good to have fam who are in the same boat. Me and Chris have been talking about the industry a lot lately, and we both feel like we've been going about it the wrong way. We're supposed to add to the industry, not re-hash the same ol nonsense. I know that this is 2 of the most famous characters in the world, but I just want to do what I do with them, if I get a job or not.... feels good to draw without pressure!enjoy;}

You do amazing work, you and your brother both...
I rarely see someone, professionals included, that can do the detail to perspective ratio
like a lot of your pieces show. You got smooth clean lines even in your outlines.
Shit like this that makes me want to do better.
I want so bad to get into the art industry, game, comic, pin-up w/e...
but yeah... them deadlines scare the shit out of me =/

Thank you very much! My bg's are something that I put a lot of work into.
You can always do better! Everyday that you grab a drawing tool, and a piece of paper is another opportunity to raise your level. Drawing comes from love, I LOVE to tell stories, and the better I draw, the better I am able to tell stories. Hitting a deadline can be difficult at times, but most of the time, it's me doing what I love, I turn it in, make changes, then move on. Deadlines become an issue when I don't know what I'm doing, and I take too long....
Good luck, and keep drawing. Professional level comes from you first;}

You really are inspirational.
Don't think there's a day that goes by that I'm not picking up a pencil,
or practicing in photoshop. I can't think of anything in this world
I have more of a passion for then art. I think my biggest problems with
it is I feel intimidated by others. I struggle to excel and everything
I know I've taught myself. I want so bad to make a career out of it, but
I lack the confidence to send anything in.
I really appreciate you encouragement, more then I could say.
Thank you very much.

so for this who do you choose your line weights?
π: 0 β©: 1
jusdog In reply to Ernesto-Alonso [2010-09-29 02:51:26 +0000 UTC]
Hey, sorry that I haven't answered you yet:} I choose my line weights almost at the end. Line weight is totally a style choice. If you did a drawing without line weights, it'll still look good, but adding 'weight' makes the picture look better. You want to add weight to your part of the drawing that has weight to it, like near the shadows. You can still add weight to the part where the light is, but you want to make those thiner. I also add it to parts that have weight, like if something is heavy... I don't know if this is completely right, but this is how I do it. I'm not an inker, so I don't totally know, but that's what I do...
:}

Your perspectives are awesome, and the fluidity of your characters is great. I wanted to ask you if I could do a color study on your pencils?

jusdog In reply to Smintz-candy [2009-10-20 20:21:16 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much:} With pieces like this, and I mean Large... I just make up where the perspective is...as long as your consistent, and it looks right, then it is, ya know? Thanks for the cool comments, and you may certainly color whatever you want, as long as I have the right to sell it as a print. You of course may do the same.

nice work man. how long did that background take?
π: 0 β©: 1
jusdog In reply to harwinder [2009-02-05 05:32:10 +0000 UTC]
Thank you. That background was actually way easier than it looks. If you look closely, it's really only 6 or 7 large buildings, with large windows. That's the secret:} It's only boxes, and lines...

This and the last sample page are great! Reading your comments from the last page about grids for the backrgrounds and if you lack in it, to focus for a period of time on just backgrounds, will be helpful. I agree with you that a well defined background can really make the piece.

Well brotha, I'm in the same boat. What I can tell you is that you definitely have the goods, but looking at this you're doing one of the biggest no no's. Never cut off the hands or feet and both Spidey and Hulk are suffering from it. You have excellent line work and backgrounds.
