Description
It took a few weeks after Amore was realeased from the crystals to physically recover, her body was exhausted and weak due to being in that state so long. She got plenty of visitors to entertain her while she stayed in her room. The crystal siblings included, showing her their little hobbies or talents and such. Sometimes, Amore couldn't help but shed a few tears when Tempo told her of things that have happened or on a certain evening when Flurry was singing a song to her.
"Grandma!" Flurry stopped shocked at the sudden tears, "Is- is it that bad? I can stop-"
"No no darling, you just sound so much like Cadenza. It's warming my heart." Amore chuckled at Flurry, wiping her tears away. "It's been a long time since I've heard her voice, I'm glad you can remind me of it. Please, finish the song."
"Yes grandma." Flurry went on.

Soon enough, Amore was able to get up and she knew exactly where she wanted to go first. She bumped in Gardenia on her way, and invited her to come along. Gardenia had some time so she agreed.
"Gardenia, may I ask you a question?" Amore asked as she set a basket in front of 3 large gemstone graves.
"Of course, Grandma." Gardenia smiled politely.
"Why is it your not married yet?" Amore sat down and looked over at her.
"OH- I- um- I think I don't need an Emperor. I feel that I have enough support that I'm doing well by myself." Gardenia was taken aback but answered quickly.
Amore nodded as she listened, "And yet, there's turmoil between you and your siblings. Your council isn't complete and there's a lot of butting heads. Or so I heard from Cadenza's council."
"There's not. We are fine." Gardenia's wings involunitarily fluffed up, she wasn't sure why she was suddenly defensive about this topic. Probably she's tired of hearing it.
"Why are you offended?" Amore rasies an eyebrow.
"I'm not." She insisted.
"Gardenia, you know what made me a great Empress was because I could sense tenisons before they became bigger issues." Amore kept her eyes on Gardenia who shuffled around under her gaze. "Are you scared? Perhaps, that you might not choose the right members? Or the burden to choose the right one to lead by your side."
"I-" Gardenia was at a lost for words so Amore continued.
"You don't know who these graves are, do you?" Amore turned to them and pointed at each as she spoke, "Sapphire Spear. He was my oldest friend, we grew up together. He became a decorated commander while I grew into my roles. We got along well but Ivery Specter did not like him. She always believed he was too impulsive and eager to fight instead of sitting down and talking. Me and Ivery got along as well." Finally Amore pointed to the grave in the middle, it stood taller than the other two. "Vendetta Haze. I don't think I'd ever met someone who gotten on my nerves so much. He was arrogant, judgemental and even speaks out of place no matter who he was referring to. He seemed like the worst pick out of the candidates. But one moment was all we needed to have an understanding of each other. He protected me when I needed it and I could see pass my dislike for him. He was my right hoof later on, we knew each others thoughts without even spareing a glance."
"It sounded like a good council, despite their flaws, the era while you ruled is said to have been the peak of the Golden Age of Peace." Gardenia was finally able to settle next to Amore, starring at the graves like she did.
"The secret to that was having a variety of personalities in my council. Because we countered each other, we saw and heard possiblities that, without them, we wouldn't have thought of. This is the advice I can give you Gardenia. Over look some first impressions, encourage some civil fights between your candidates. Those who are obvious picks will stick out and you will know. I can't give you advice about looking for a spouse though," Amore chuckled, "I hear Celestia's given up the tradition of arranged marriages lately."
Gardenia chuckled along side her, before turning and bowing, "Thank you for your advice. I will deeply consider everything you said, Grandma."
"You're bright Gardenia, you will make the best decisions you can. I know it."

Amore made an effort to have enough time for all of her grandchildren, including Raven. Raven's never met such a comforting aura that rivaled Heaven, herself. She didn't bat an eye when he admitted he was only starting to learn to read instead she asked him to read her stories when he had time.
"Then the Great Sta-star... Stars-" Raven stuttered.
"Starswirl, the bearded. Look if you put a space here, you can see the words seperately and it's easier to read, isn't it?" Amore pointed out.
"The Great Starswirl the bearded." Raven repeated, looking up at Amore. "Thank you for your patience with me, Grandma."
"Nonsense Raven, you are doing amazing. You've been learning for not even 3 months and yet you are able to read this material to me." Amore smiled, "It must make you a genius."
Raven blushed and smiled, "If I were a genius, I wouldn't have to learn so late."
"Ah ah ah, because you can learn so late in your life means you're a genius, with a brilliant mind that wants to absorb as much knowledge as you can. Perhaps you'll pass Tempo and his studies one day." Amore replied, giving him a gentle tap with her horn against him.
"Now you must be teasing me, grandma. I could never pass my father's intelligence." Raven shook his head and looked back at the book.
Amore laughed, "Never say never, he didn't even like to sit at his desk when he was younger." She commented before they began to read again.

Amore was very intune with the attitudes around her, she knew tensions were high espically when it concerned Shining Jem Jr, though she couldn't gather why. They decided to go on a walk on sunny day, around the gardens and vast grounds of the palace.
"Grandma, there's somehing I've been wanting to ask you but I fear it's inapporpriate." Shining began in the midst of their quiet walk.
"I think I can guess what it's about," Amore hummed in response, "Are you going to ask about something to do with King Sombra?"
Shining's ears folded back and he ndoded, "It seems you can already read our minds and yet we haven't known each other long. I fear you may start finisihing my sentences." He joked to try to lighten up.
"It's a special talent of mine," She winked playfully at him, "You may ask about him, go ahead."
"Well.. while I grew up and had to read about the history of the empire, there's no mention of what set the blood feud between you and King Sombra.. I found a diary from a historian with speculations.." Shining spoke as he watched her reactions, "It said it was because your father, Emperor Eros Agapi, wouldn't grant him as a scholar.."
Amore stopped walking, "Is that what it says?"
Shining nodded but stopped walking as well. He continued, "Is that really the reason? Was the reason he's caused several wars with us because Emperor Eros was petty? Being a scholar isn't a high position, couldn't you have given it to him when you were crowned?"
"Shining..."
"I just, can't wrap my mind around this. Your legacy is that you were the most kind and generous, why couldn't you open your heart to him as well-"
Amore stopped her hoof to stop him talking but didn't raise her voice, "If I had opened my heart to him anymore I would've ripped it in half. I want that scholar's diary rid of. He tarnishes the good name of my father and I will not stand for that."
Shining stayed quiet but he had to know, perhaps there was a way to end the fued once and for all, "Grandma, set it straight then. Was that just the surface? What else did Emperor Eros and you do to him to make him hate us?"
Amore turned her body to look straight at Shining, again with an unwavering voice. "He was smart, probably the smartest unicorn my father had ever met. My father was so impressed he was ready to give me to him in marriage and I couldn't do anything about it because of the time we were in. I rejected the idea since I already had someone in my heart. Do you know what King Sombra did? He found him. And he killed him. He was a farmer on the outskirts of the empire with no power or money, but because he was a threat for Sombra's quest to become Emperor, he had to be eliminated. History decided to skip the part that Sombra wasn't just an underdog trying to join the palace, he was power hungry with no limits to getting what he wants. He's why my children had no father, why I had to rule the kingdom on a lonely throne, why my daughter couldn't have a full life and my son had to live in isolation scared everyday for his life. And still. When I was Empress, I never harmed him." Now Amore's eyes teared up once more, "I didn't accuse him, I didn't punish him, I even lied for him. I lied to my own children that Canzone had died in a natural disaster, not that someone selfish killed him for power. I didn't want them to be burdened with hate but Sombra would rather burn in Tartarus than move on."
Shining was silent, his eyes big as she ranted in front of him. Any hope of telling her about Rosegold faded instantly. Shining was also met with the sunken fear that nobody was on his side, they never could be. "Do-... do you believe that... kids aren't like their parents?" He hesistantly asked.
Amore paused, "They don't have to be. But it's nearly impossible to break away from them."
Shining nodded and gulped, "Grand-grandma I think it's getting a little cloudy, we should get back to the palace now."
Amore agreed as she did feel light-headed after all that. And like the that, the whole walk back was filled with tense silence.
