Magnificent, well done and thank you, You have explained alot that can get confusing due to the vast numbers of entities. I am interested in the other and previous religions that I suspect the Hebrew based their mythology on and how subsequent religions adapted and translated these entities into their own parthenons. As you say you have learnt more since doing this. I hope you do an update, anyway respect is due for this endevour. Best wishes

Actually every religion has some kind of winged entities. I suspect it had something to do with the mans admiration for the flying creatures, how they looked unreachable and magical.

What i find kinda hilarious is that in Jewish Mythology and Kabbala, the seraphim abd cherubim etc aren't all that high up in order, hahaha...
The demons all kinda sound like they came out of the Lesser Key of Solomon, although admittedly i didn't really find any other references on all these demons.
PS I'm an atheist, but damn, christian mythology is really quite interesting, hahaha!

Well, even those are not clearly distinguished. Some sources say they are the same thing, others that they are different entities. Ultimately, they are earth-bound creatures, so I didn't include them in this list. (Keep in mind that I made this over three years ago. I would probably do an even more detailed and intricate version now. )

Although I'm not religious, I am rather fascinated by mythology and biblical influences (mostly in fantasy settings or science fiction) so this is a nice reference point. Great job on creating this - as you mentioned, there are many different names for the same entity sometimes so it can be hard to accurately represent them without some disagreement but I think this came out great.

I just had to make decisions at some point. I honestly wanted it to be a bit more dark and detailed, when it comes to actual art, but I didn't have the time and the teachers at my school were really picky about how dark you can get.
It's ok to disagree about my research. This is not a 100% accurate description of these entities, but then again, facts about them are not something people know on a regular everyday basis.Β

Yeah, I know what you mean - despite the bright colours in some of my art I tend to go towards darker designs, particularly when it comes to demons and such but maybe if they wanted to keep a positive image on the religious front they preferred towards a bit more light than dark (though personally I think religion combines both, so why not go with whatever you feel like!)
That's very true, and you can only have a given amount of accuracy on any subject let alone something that's been discussed, reinterpreted and re-written for hundreds of years.

They just prefer keeping a positive and happy go lucky image with whatever we or they do. It gets unnerving. I need to take care of my deviantart page, it's getting really stale. A bunch of stuff I have on here is old and kinda embarrassing.

I would probably put them above subordinate spirits and bellow the rest of the commanders.

This is what the research I did and the books I read came up with. There were many different names for a number of different demons and angels, but I picked the ones that came up the most.

Whenever I try to research the Angelic/Demonic hierarchy, a bunch of different sources tell me different things...
Also, was this mainly Christianity-based, or did you include Jewish/Islamic lore?

I honestly don't remember everything. One of my main sources for the angels wasΒ De Coelesti Hierarchia and for the demons, I just used different books, legends and sources of all kinds. I narrowed it down to the most common things they say about each order or specific entity and made it into a graph. Also, this one is christianity based, because it was the easiest thing (at the time) to explain to my professors.
