Description
The little red dots on this dragonfly's body are mites which attach themselves when the dragonfly nymph emerges from the water and sheds its exuvia. Although it is a parasitic relationship, I find it fascinating.
This photo is a retake of "Hitchhikers" (2017) , which I was quite proud of but also pretty irked by the black-ground.
