Description

I was going through my 2019 photos, and originally had wanted to submit this photo instead of Hitchhikers II: The Next Generation . I wanted to show all six legs of the dragonfly, but instead of backing off the magnification and losing detail, I combined two shots into a macro panorama and then cropped back to the original aspect ratio. In addition to getting two shots to line up it also took hours of work in Photoshop, but in the end I decided that the single shot version of the photo was a stronger photo and submitted that instead. The technique of creating a macro panorama was interesting, but it did not necessarily produce a better photo. Also, the other side of this dragonfly had more mites. For the sake of the photo, either have a ton of mites or no mites at all. So why am I sharing this photo? I guess because looking back on it, I can see some potential to put caption text in the negative space explaining the mite situation or maybe something about dragonflies in general. Or maybe this is the layout to a business card.
