I feel pretty meh about this shot. The grasshopper's pose is a bit unfortunate due to the front leg blocking the face. It also looks like a piece of grass got in front of the lens and created some visual distortions. The tall grass sure made it really tough to get this shot, however I still should have dropped an extension tube so that the whole frame wasn't simply filled with the grasshopper. It is preferable to me when the surrounding environment is present in the scene, interacts with the subject, and creates drama.

I think the most compelling part about this shot is the color of the grasshopper's pronotum. One of my favorite aspects of macro is just how insanely colorful the world is at bug-scale.
