Description
This is the second in the series of three for my illustration final. I'm illustrating the Hades and Persephone story in three scenes. The first scene is here [link]This is the part of the story when Demeter, mother of Persephone, is mourning the loss of her daughter to Hades.

Ooh, this is beautiful. This is my favorite of the series. I love Demeter's golden glow but then how the rest of the picture is dark and barren. I also like how the inset skull reminds you of the Underworld theme causing her distress even though the Underworld and Hades are not pictured in this scene.

Demeter was quite fun to do in this one because I got to think of all the ways that she would differ from Persephone.
