Description
"Only on the stormy nights, when the air rolls freely around the waves does she appear. She rises like an angel, waves crashing around her, creating a wonderful ocean dress of blue and purples. This woman is a of the Sea. One of only a few who remain - The Protector of all things precious in the waters she rules. Men from other parts, far away travel the seas for endless miles and miles searching for the mysterious woman who protects or haunts the oceans - She is a beauty of nothing you have ever seen and only a few will gaze upon her smile. But be warned fair traveler - Look too deeply in her eyes and you might fall out of your boat!"Find my work on Etsy:

Thank you This has always been one of my favorites. I would love to do something like a "wind, water, earth, fire" painting series in this style - that or a captain planet promotion
Either way, I just need to paint more

Elements are so awesome to do because you can derive a huge amount of inspiration from them. Would be awesome to see something like that from you.^^

Don't remind me What Saturday morning routine was complete without captain planet, 'original' power rangers, and duck tales?.. just to name a few
but yeah, elements would definitely be something I'd like to paint as a series.

I was hung up on cartoon network, from morning til evening, and after school! That's how I learned to speak English ....Though I loved Heatclef, Scooby Doo, Hong Kong Phue,TC, and so on...Captain Planet was not to be missed out!

I bet...me too, though lately I would get a PHD at sitting at the table and mixing colors how much I paint. I think a bit too much, but I better ride the wave while it's still on the rise.

Love the water in this and the way her hair flows between sea and sky. Very clever stylising - especially the graceful uprising of the wave into her dress! Good stuff!!.

That is actually so beautiful...I am sooo envious of your talent in watercolour 0-0
I looove the way the water, just like in the story, creates her dress and how the stunning swirls all mingle into one very emotive painting.
The colours are so beautiful as well...

Amazing! I love how she blends so well with the water...you can't tell where she starts and the ocean ends. And I love how her sword is barely showing. You did a fantastic job with the water and the clouds! As I asked another artist earlier today, how do you do such detail in watercolor?? Oh and her hair is great!

hehe you're too kind Beth I really was proud of this one, it was a friend's idea that I put on paper
Really about patience, I remember even from 2004 when I started getting serious with my art that I was rushing through my work where I could finish a painting in a sitting or two. Now it might take me several weeks to finish a piece. I try to get all the areas covered and then after I have some basic layering done I pick it apart as much as I can. Most of the time it's about not being afraid to make mistakes and try to work around errors until you are happy with it

You're welcome!
Thanks for sharing how you do it! I recently discovered the "not being afraid to make mistakes" myself. However, it wasn't with my own work from my head. It was while doing pictures of favorite cartoon characters for my class last year. So I was "copying" pictures for them, and while normally I'm a perfectionist and don't want to have any mistakes, I just did it and didn't worry if it was EXACTLY the way the reference looked. And that felt good!

My teacher always tells me that even if I make a mistake that I should keep those images for sentimental reasons hehe. Making mistakes are the only way to get better
