Description Oropher and Thranduil during Dagor Dagorlad, the day of the ill-fated charge.

This piece was literally haunting me because I couldn't paint so many things right but in the end I decide to just submit this version and forget about it since I've finished it Now to get on with other things I actually need to do > <

I am glad to hear that you want to draw moments/stories from the legendary Elder Days!

But have you ever tried LotRO (Lord of the Rings Online)? it is the online visual recreation of Tolkien's Middle-earth, You should join us there! many Tolkien fans, writers, artists, and even scholars there (and especially on the Laurelin server).

I thought that was a game? I've checked it out, the website is a tad confusing since I don't really use forums but I found a thread on the Laurelin server that is a sort of art thread? But don't forums usually require the user to have a certain number of posts before allowing them to post a threat? Sorry forum noob > < The community does feel a bit like elfwood though so I just might after navigating around a bit.

Yes it is a game, but not just any game: it Β is the first and only online visual recreation of Tolkien's Middle-earth. For very many this was a dream that came true; to be able to step into Tolkien's world in this way. For with the books we can 'live' the story and moments with our mind's eye; with the movies we can see it; with Tolkien inspired music we can hear the sound of Middle-earth; but with this game we can be there, so to speak, and it is a combination of all aspects said above. It is truly a great and memorable experience, and the community is mature and welcoming.

As a fellow Tolkien enthusiast I truly hope you too come and join us there and on the Laurelin server. It is after all free to download and no subscription fees are required. Β If you have any more questions feel free to ask, or send me a message. I will be glad to help.

And yea that thread shows the Middle-earth art created by players of the Laurelin server. Truly beautiful.

And here are some videos that I think you will enjoy:

These two show the beautiful and highly immersive World: Middle-earth

And this is a video of the oldest lore-inspired community event in the entire game as it has been going on every week since 2008:Β  www.youtube.com/watch?v=vklGBq…

I remember seeing the artwork cover for it back in the early 2000s and I was pretty blown away and wanted to download it but back then I was a kid and it all seem rather complicated haha. Well you got me there at mature community The only problem is will it work on a mac though?:/

Ooo thanks for the videos I'll go have a look now I think I've listened to the songs that they composed especially for the game but i've never really looked at the gameplay ones before.

It is not complicated, feel at ease : ) and if you have any questions I, and the general community will be glad to help. And yes, people play on mac too. I think it was not supported when the game first launched but now it is. There is an option for it in the page for downloading the game. Β Β  www.lotro.com/en/game/download

And yea, the music is truly well done with some tracks that I would say come close even to the quality and genius music of Howard Shore.

This is a most favorite one for many:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMhEdj… [Lothlorien]

and this:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdZZm4… (Rivendell)

Ah I hope you come! Let me know and I will be glad to welcome you in-game too. Remember to ccome on Laurelin, for there is the home of most artists in the game it seems (aside for the lore-events, and more yet).
