  Character: Being a drastically dissimilar individual among ponies, Spike resperents the brains in the group and its smartest, brightest and most quick-thinking part. This rather young fire-breathing dragon proves to be highly intelligent and thus dodgy, as presenting cunning and crafty race of sly lizards. Despite dragons' overall reputation of devious and disloyal creatures, Spike has a heart and mind of gold and often acts as a helpful and genuine sidekick to his pony-friends. Spike's peaceful and benevolent character often reveals when hostility and feuds between someone electrify the air: he can't stand bickering and always tries to avoid any quarrelng, often finding good arguments and convincing rivals of civilian split-up. He bears much knowledge herited by books and enjoys reading to quench his thirst of learning something new. Spike is pretty curious and has a thing for any peculiar information or news, but sometimes can't see the line between innocent tittle-tattle and outright mean gossip. Despite this he one of a noble blood, fair and sophisticated gentleman who values honorable and well-mening individuals like himself; he acts especially thoughful towards ladies and younger folks, whom he treats with both respect and genuine fondness. Most see Spike's smooth side and appreciate him the way he is, treating him like an ordinary being in a pony-based society him; he doesn't feel any pressure towards his belonging to a different race, although newly-introduced individuals often freak out and feel fear around a real, though young, dragon.
Despite a good-hearted and amicable attitude to everyone, Spike's subtle dragon nature often takes lead, waking up more greedy, avaricious and selfish side to a usually well-meaning young one. He gets incredibly jealous and envious when somebody dares to touch his favored things or attracts attention of his beloved friends: Spike becomes especially furious if he sees that someone doesn't mean well for his loved ones, even when he's mistaken and it's the opposite, as he sometimes overreacts to this kind of things. He rarely accepts his own mistakes and puts out the fault to others, blaming anyone but himself and fearing of looking awkward. Thus he ends up being dishonest and unfair, often lying and deceiving his friends and others. The only one he can't completely fool with his lies is his closest and dearest friend Wysteria, whom he trusts in his deepest secrets and feelings he usually tries to hide underneath the mask of calmness and composure; beside his tender pony-friend Spike feels the most comfort and in his turn does everything to keep her happy, helping her with gardening and housechores.

Happened to hatch in Wysteria's family garden, Spike was ought to be taken under her caring wing from the first days; as the first person he saw right after birth, Wysteria became a mother figure for helpless and lonely baby dragon, whose parents were nowhere to be found around anyway. He brought much trouble to a pony at the beggining, but thanks to quick-thinking and natural intelligence Spike quickly understood how to behave himself and act in a pony-based society. He took interest in books and science from relatively young age, proving to be clever and extremely bright; everything he set his mind to was studied and explored in detail. However the only thing he trully failed at was fire breathing, a natural and usually easy ability of dragonkind, - controling the element was sometimes too hard for him and holding it back was something he learned to do through hard trainings. Wysteria didn't mind if that was her friend biggest issue, - she calmly comforted him and assured of better chances at especially bad days, and Spike in return protected his gentle friend anyway he could from hardships and bullying. Together they learned to work in harmony and found understanding partners in later life, especially when Wysteria decided to find a home and garden of her own. He moved with her to peaceful and placid Ponyville, where they grew a magnificent flower garden together and lived in happiness, - with their newfound friends.
