Description
This was a bit of an experimentation on my end.A two part rubber mold was taken from the frozen body of young small sized rat. It was a tricky process to get it finished in time, and remove the rat afterward and getting all the hair out of the mold. I used wax to make the peices, because it was fast and had a bit of give to allow me to remove the cast without too much breaking. Detail wise, it was great. The eyes, the teeth, the toes, nails, fur, even whiskers showed in the end result. I was surprised, the whole thing was rather eerie but beautiful.
This was a sort of very visual representation of my average life, that isnt so normal for everyone. Feeding my reptiles and selling reptile food, means a freezer full of frozen feeders is a mundane thing.
I set all the rats in a large fish tank with a black backing, on a pedestal, then let them soak in water. (How I dethaw for feeding). It was a part of my sculpture works on defining little parts of my life.
