Description Seven Renders later and it's finally acceptable. I figured out that a few of the white areas are actually glares from the gloss on the hull. Before the entire right half of the ships large cannons were all white. So I had to reduce the gloss and speculars, and in return cut the photons in half three times.
Anyway on to the ship description.

The Dominator class Super Battle Cruiser stands at a 100 mile length. Its hull has a high resistance to solid and energy attacks so it can last an extremely long time. These ships can be considered Mini Devastators just for the sole fact that they are mini capital ships. The Ship was built during the end of the Veraxo war but did not come out until the Veraxo's re-emergence in 2360. The ship carries 300,000 crew members, 800,000 soldiers, 50,000 fighters, 10,000 dropships, and 800 shuttle craft.

The Ships armaments consist of Antimatter Projectiles, plasma bombs, anti fighter, and Hyper Energy. The Hyper Energy are the large cannons that sit between the large wings. The projectile cannons are all rotating cannons that sit on the ships hull. The bombardment cannons, those in the opening are the cannons that will launch the plasma bombs, basically they are large cone projectiles used to pierce hulls of enemy ships and inflict large amounts of damage. The shells work like a shot gun, many projectiles are launched along tracks that run on the insides of the cannons. The anti fighter cannons are inside the small slits along the edge of the hull. Each cannon is quad barreled encased in a single barrel cannon.

The ship harbors the Chameleon cloaking device along with the Gravatrax Generator. Also it harbors a system jamming device that screws up the enemies tracking and targeting systems making it very hard to get a lock on with a weapon and makes it hard to pursue the ship into hyperspace.

The Vampire soldiers use two of these ships along with the Dracula. The interesting part is that the Dracula is 90 miles shorter than these guys and it is the commanding ship. The two ships that the Vampires use are the Joker and the Outrider. The ships first use was at a Veraxo Military Prison on the planet Hawthorne, on this planet there was a giant uprising at a Veraxo Scientific Hospital used in trying to develop the perfect soldier out of what ever species they could find. The Joker's Commander was in charge of the invasion and the saving of eighty civilian species. One of which is my OC.

Wedge....my power is weakening...

Looks kind of like something out of Total Annihilation.

I've never played Total Annihilation before, but I did look at some picks. Seems to be a Command and Conquer type of game.

beautiful, absolutly so, actually.
but i have one problem with this, not the pic, the discription
300,000 people to a 100mi long xmi wide ship seems rather low, considering the average population of a RURAL area in the US has a population density of about 350,000.....so thats a rather unpopulated ship, lol

That's just the staff. Most of them work in the engine room. Alot of the cooking is done by machines with human observers. You also have to take into account how big the engines are where all the stuff for the weapons are going to go. There are also large areas for relaxation and such which take up a good ammount of space. Plus there's enough room for 200,000 soldiers at the minimum. Maximum is about 500,000. That part I'll edit in.

so..... its mechanicly populated rather then by personell?

K1092000 In reply to hell-by-poo [2007-01-10 05:28:53 +0000 UTC]

kind of yes. Ships like this are designed to carry alot of soldiers but also designed to wage a small battle on its own. All of the cannons are fired from the bridge via targeting computers. There are personell that monitor each cannon individually but it doesn't take ten people to man one cannon only about two or three.

secondly, if theres that few ppl on a ship that big.... there must be a fuckload of cafiterias and some way of transprt from stem to stern

K1092000 In reply to hell-by-poo [2007-01-10 05:38:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah there are many cafeterias but they each come with enough food for the journey and all soldiers are accounted for with distribution so one cafeteria doesn't have more than the other. There's that few people on the ship during down times. I'm going to have to start putting those two different pop caps up on each ship so people don't get confused.

pop caps?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

K1092000 In reply to hell-by-poo [2007-01-10 05:53:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, how many people a ship can really hold regardless of what's put on it. The DSBE can hold around two million people that's with soldiers and personell included. The actual pop cap of the ship if need be would be around 4 mil. Almost double the amount used. That's why the pop cap for war is different on ships than it is for during down time. So these ships can carry around 600,000 soldiers if need be.

Well the many renders finally paid off... tho one thing i've noticed is that the texture looks really flat in some parts. Is there a bump map? Otherwise it looks awesome, lol, there are like 40 guns on there

K1092000 In reply to MattJobs [2007-01-10 02:16:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes the renders did pay off. There is a bump map on it, all part except the cannons have one. There are not many parts to be bumped however, the texture was designed to leave it with more of a streaked feeling.

The level of detail is incredible. For this kind of graphic design, it looks like you would need a real advanced computer.

Not really, this was done on my laptop. It only has 512mb of ram and a 1.6ghz processor. It all has to do with the lighting and glossiness of the materials. My older computer had a Pentium 4 and 256mb of ram, and if I was as good as I am now back when it was still working I bet I could do this exact same thing on it.
