lol that's just terrible of them, not only have they used that without permission it sends out wrong ideas to people because now people might think tails, knuckles, metal and mecha sonic will be in it.

One upon a time there was a Sonic 4 in production, there is a rom of the alpha copy floating around. I remember the time I found it (before I freakin reformatted my portable harddrive by accident...ugh), the rom itself is called "Sonic Crackers" I'm sure if you look hard enough you'll find it.
The Rom itself was pretty much the base engine of the game itself, they were going to implement a new way of controlling Sonic and Tails involving them holding too rings that were bound together by some elastic looking sparkly thing... basically the levels were designed in ways that would allow you to kinda take advantage of this feature and use it to process.
The test level itself I recall had no enemies in it, If you died enough times or...maybe beat the level? I don't remember but beyond the level it took you to what appeared to be a top view level select world to walk to different areas.
Of course, there was no other areas and once you were there the version pretty much didn't go anywhere.
Anyways, interestingly enough as Sonic 4 was scrapped the concept of the ring bound gameplay became the 32X game known as Chaotix starring Knuckles.
...I used to be a major Sonic fan. Nice work, I would love to see an actual Sonic 4 game. Hell, considering the fact that Side Scrollers still live on in stuff like Xbox Live Arcade, Wii Marketplace etc etc If Sega thought there would be money in it I bet they'd do it.
Could you imagine how awesome a true old school Sonic game would be with the capabilities for Graphics/Gameplay/Sound we do now?

sometimes, i have the feeling the biggest possible idiots work at SEGA. I mean, think of it: their 3D games are ALL CRAP (except for SA 1&2), every new game is a great failure, and they still yet DON'T GOT IT that NOBODY wants absolute useless NEW characters if we have old school and cool Sonic & Tails VS. Ivo Robotnik-Action, mixed up with Knuckles, Metal & Mecha Sonic.
If more reasonable people would work at SEGA, like you and me, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 would be by now an already classic game, and we would worry about what to do in Sonic 5.
And you already would have a cover!^^ Really nice done! I just think Tails eyes are a littel bit too small, and the background could had be fulled more with details, but everything else is in right size, pretty colors and matching pose.

I personally would love to see a Sonic the Hedgehog 4. No Shadow, no silver, no G.U.N, no demons or monsters of any kind. Just Sonic and a few of the classic characters taking on Dr. Eggman and his creations in old school 2D goodness. I do think however that a game like that should use HD 2D graphics though, like Odin Sphere. But yeah, this is basically the game I WISH sega would make.
On another note, I actually used to think that Mecha Sonic was just an upgrade to Metal Sonic. I didn't know they were 2 separate robots.

I don't know for sure mecha sonic is a seperate robot, I always presumed they were t hough and silver sonic to...but I don't like him as much as the other 2

Whats really sad is that the new 3D Sonic games strayed away from the original ideas that made both Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 really great games. Thats why I just stick with Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
I'm also a big fan of the old Sonic games as well and I think Sega should have made a Sonic the Hegdehog 4 and if they did I would definitely be the first one in line to get it!
