A look at Rima's reason for betraying the Empire

On a mission to try and contain a rebellion in a small city state. Things went south when an order was given to execute all rebels within the area and a massive battle begun. The battle continued for days until the Empire, under the cover of night, attacked the Rebel Sanctuary. Rima noticed the civilians were getting caught in the crossfire and decided, against her better judgment, to inform her Commander of the isssue. The Commander ignored her and kept barking orders to take down the rebel scum. When the Rebels decided to surrender than lose more lives, they were rounded up to await for their punishment. The Commander then ordered his men to take any civilians in the area and hold them in the center of city hall. A tense silence filled the air until the Commander yelled "Ready!" The Stormtroopers raised their weapons, the prisoners and the civilians tensed "Aim!" Knowing what will happen next, the people ran, hoping to escape their gruesome fate "Fire!" But to no avail. The Commander whispered "I love it when they run." Seeing the slaughter happening in front of her, Rima took aim and attempted to shoot her CO. The Commander saw this and ordered his men to take her down. Taking off her helmet she opened fire on the oncoming troopers and yelled to the stragglers to run. She spotted a thermal detonator, a second too late. The explosion blasted her off her feet and landed face first on the ground a few feet away. The last thing she heard was the screams of the civilians and the sounds of blaster fire overhead.

She didn't know how long she was out. She honestly thought she was dead. With a groan, she stood up and saw the carnage left in last night's assault. All around her were bodies, civilians, both young and old. Not one was spared from their unjust end. Realizing that she had a hand in their deaths, she made a promise that she will take those who had wronged her and avenged the death of

And unknowingly, she became one of sparks that will soon ignite the fires of hope and restore peace across the Galaxy.
