Hm... can you bake all the pieces together? It would take a really long time, I reckon.
If so, what's the approximate time you cooked all these?

For me, it takes about 15-20 minutes unless you have a lot to do. ^^

clay doesnt take long to bake at all XD unless you have like, thousands of pieces to bake. I use a toaster oven, and it takes 5-8 mins to bake. but it also depends on wat clay you used, it usually tells you how long you need to bake it on the package hope that helps!

KaciHPfanatic In reply to x-Cocao [2009-07-01 00:04:42 +0000 UTC]

ah, well I can't exactly reveal the way I do it. However, I was watching this video my friend sent to me on youtube, and it showed a person teaching us how to make one of those. I like my method, since I came up with it and I don't know anyone else who uses it. So you can take one of those piping tips chefs use for their frosting. Just take some clay(not too much at a time) and push it through the tip (with anything you have, like the end of a paintbrush ). That's how most people do it.

Ah thank you! I've been digging around and have found some really old (probably rubbish) baking clay. i have no idea how long i should bake it for though (help?- they're all pretty small... about 2cm long)
i have already made two swirly lollies, a chocolate and an octopus(is working on a second one now) (:
I'm so bored haha

KaciHPfanatic In reply to MyBloodSugarVampire [2009-05-25 13:53:07 +0000 UTC]

well, usually people try to follow the package instructions to estimate their baking time. I use a toaster oven, so I don't have to use as much energy from my stove oven which i use for baking cakes and such. It should take a few minutes to bake, but depending on how long it takes your oven to warm up, it should take a little longer. Once the oven is warm enough, you can just stick your charms in. If you want to you can check on it a few times to make sure you don't burn it, since package instructions tend to over estimate the time Nice to know that you started clay stuff be sure to take pics so I can see it!

MyBloodSugarVampire In reply to KaciHPfanatic [2009-05-25 16:11:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! As i said, it was only digging around and found it by accident, so it's some old stuff. hehe. But what i'm trying to say is that because it is old stuff the packaging is.. well.. binned...

This is soooo adorable. I really like the colors inside the cake. The cake's so small though, do you ever make really big ones?? And how did you get the white designs inside the green clay? It looks like a green orange/lemon. Did you just buy it like that?

Anyway, keep this up! It makes me wish I had clay or real food.

LOL TY!!!! I try to make bigger ones, altho, i nvr have time to make them, so i make smaller ones, i also bake real cake in real life, but i wanna make the layers all colorful and such and that topping, is a lime cane, it just involves a bunch of wrapping clay in side one another

Cool a cake with layers I like ^^

Its a very clear tutorial and I would get my clay out later but im waiting for a folding table to be delivered (im in a student house so theres no dining room and my bedroom has a shelf for a desk >.<

It would be even better if some of the pictures were bigger, I can see that a couple of them are a tad blurry probably cos of lighting?

Im no pro but if you get a tallish desk lamp (as a short one would be too close) and take piccys from behind your clay will be lit up more and your camera should be able to focus better!

Its hard to describe in text... but do you get what I mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

KaciHPfanatic In reply to Kelzky [2009-02-11 22:53:36 +0000 UTC]

yes i get what you mean, the lighting in my house is a bit dim, but yes, sometimes i use a low desk lamp as you described! ^^ My camera is not the best, so the pics are always blurry, im saving up for a better camera

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kelzky In reply to KaciHPfanatic [2009-02-11 23:10:12 +0000 UTC]

Aw cool, yes a better camera does help!

Do you have one in mind yet?

You might know this already but you need one with a good optical zoom like 5x or 10x to get decent close up shots and if the camera has a macro mode thats good too!

Of course Digital SLR's are the best but they cost loooaaaadsss and I can't afford one

KaciHPfanatic In reply to Kelzky [2009-02-12 00:10:58 +0000 UTC]

i didnt have one in mind, but ty, i think i'll look for that in a camera, i think higher pixels help too, cause my camera has very low pixels.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kelzky In reply to KaciHPfanatic [2009-02-12 00:23:19 +0000 UTC]

Anything from 6-10 megapixels is good - there's not much point in getting higher unless you want to do some professional photography
