Allied Assault
“How goes the progress on the L.A. situation?” Tanaki asked Miku.
“Very well, sir.” She said. “So far, the allied forces of the kaiju and jaegers is fighting back the enemy line, and thinning their ranks. At this rate, it could be over in a matter of hours.”
“That’s good news. I just wish we didn’t have to sit here, and watch from the sidelines. There has to be more we can do to help.”
“What about the Vulture mech squadron?”
“The Vultures?”
“They may be small in size compared to the kaiju, but their firepower is on par with our mechs. And with their speed, they can make it to Los Angeles in less than an hour.”
“Do you really think it’ll be enough?”
“It’s our best bet. After all, we can’t count on the Gotengo because of Gyozen, so this may be our only choice.”
“Then….it’ll have to do for now. Attention: prepare to launch all Vulture units! Set a course for Los Angeles!”
“This might be small, but let’s hope it helps.”
The battle for Los Angeles raged for what felt like an eternity.
The titans were tearing through the Tenebren forces like they were paper, thanks to their immense strength, and the unity of their attacks. Amhuluk and Baphomet were holding up the arms of Leatherback while Gipsy Avenger shot several rounds into its torso until it fell over dead. Na kika wrapped himself around a Trilopod, and began to use it to fight the other Tenebren forces. Atreus was shredding through his enemies with ease when Raijin attempted to bite his arm off: needless to say Atreus’ fast reflexes let him catch the Antilock’s hidden head, and slice it off with his claws. Striker Eureka was dueling with Scunner when the horned monster found a drill tearing through his torso, courtesy of Megalon. The gargantuans worked together to rip off a Trilopod’s arm, and run it through its heart.
Godzilla continued swinging his ax, cutting down every foe in his path. Every once in a while, he would charge the blade with his atomic energy so that its strength, and cleavage could be more effective. Whatever it cut, it cut like a hot knife through butter. There wasn’t a gyaos, Trilopod, or Acidquill that stood in his way as he slashed, and hacked them down one after the other. Tristan also fared well against the hordes pitted against them. Even driving his claws into an acidquill that tried to sneak up on Godzilla. The same was said for Kiryu, who used both melee, and long-ranged combat to defeat his enemies. Needless to say, the Tenebren forces were finding themselves overwhelmed. And they began to flee towards the nest. “Drive them to their vile nest!” cried King Caesar, as the Titans and Jaegers chased down the Tenebrens.
“Make safe this city!” cried Atreus, as the others also cried out in victory.
“Those wretched monsters are trying to screw me.” Karkaro hissed in anger. He watched as his forces began to flee towards the nest at the edge of the city. This sight infuriated him. This, and the sight of his fleet under attack from some of these monsters was driving him into a raging fury. The likes of which he’d never experienced before now. These primitive beasts thought they could defeat him? They thought they could defeat The Cryog? The Chosen people of Lord Bagan, himself?
“This will not stand any longer.” Karkaro said, approaching the bridge controls. “We are Cryog. We conquer. We destroy. We rule. And nobody screws with the Cryog….AND LIVES!” He then slammed his tentacled fist onto a large red button, and an alarm went off. The image of humanoid figures appearing on one of the computer screens.
It was time.
Outside, the fliers noticed something happening with the massive Command Ship. A dish of some sort slid out of the bottom of the front of the ship. And then suddenly, a green beam of energy that struck the nest. The nest absorbed this energy, and began to shine bright green. Then, a wave of alien energy pulsed, and fired throughout the city, engulfing all in its path. To Atreus’ horror, smaller trilopods began pouring out of the nest by the dozens, making the Tenebren forces stop in their tracks. To make matters worse, these smaller Trilopods began to grow in size until they seemingly couldn’t even be contained in their own bodies. So they began to burst open, and allow more Beta Trilopods to be born.
Meanwhile, the Cryog ships began opening their bay doors. Not to release fighters, mind you. But for something far more dangerous, and lethal: Yokai. Long had these armored atrocities been forged in the smithies of the Cryog, combining metal and machine with antilock flesh and blood. Cryog spies allowed Karkaro to use Project Jaeger as the basis for this production process. And now, it had long since bore fruit as the armored, humanoid antilocks began leaping out of the ships by the dozens. Four yokai lept from each side of their ships, and landed behind the tnebren forces. The remaining antilocks came up to these hybrid creatures, and recognized them as part of the species. And they bolstered the once fractured ranks of the Tenebren Forces.
But the worst was yet to come.
The nest began to shake with movement. To Atreus, and the Titans growing horror, it became clear something was alive in that massive structure. And it was now waking up. The nest melted, and molted into the shape of a massive Trilopod. But this was no ordinary Trilopod, by a large margin. This was a combination of Alpha, and Beta species rolled into a mega singularity. Six legs stood on each side, and four prehensile tails swung behind it. Along its neck were green glowing pads, and four toothed pedipalps. And as its long arms hung in the air, poised to attack, its glowing yellow eyes looked upon the mass of monsters with primal hunger. This was the Cryog’s ultimate trump card should their Trilopods prove inefficient against Earth’s Defenders.
This was Magita.
Yet even with this overwhelming threat literally looming over their heads, Atreus knew that they could not give up so easily. If they surrender without a fight, Bagan wins. And that could not stand. “Reform the line!” he shouted, almost surprising the other titans, and mechas. But he was persistent in his command, and when they realized how serious he was, they did as he ordered. True, they were intimidated by the massive colossus that appeared before them. But instinct told them this was an intruder to their world, and it needed to be destroyed. Magita roared aloud, ready to begin this one-sided battle, and end it just as quickly. The Tenebren forces also regained their fighting spirit, and sprung into action. “Sound the charge, take them head on!” Atreus roared, racing towards the opposing army. The Titans made their battlecry, and followed their alpha into battle with all the courage, and fury they could muster.
The two armies collided with the force of an earthquake. And just as before, both sides tore into each other with vicious intent. Only this time, the Tenebrens had more fighting spirit than before. With Magita on their side, there was no way they could lose this time. The Yokai especially proved to be fearsome combatants as their strength was a combination of cybernetics and kaiju flesh perfectly melded into one. This made them little more of a challenge to the Titans and Jaegers as they fought. All the while, Magita simply observed the fighting. Waiting to choose which tasty morsel to feast upon first. She didn’t care what she would eat: even her own offspring, and the other tenebrens were just food to her. And as she slowly lumbered towards the opposing armies, she only thought of how delicious they would taste.
Though the Yokai proved to be formidable, they still went down like the Trilopods, Acidquills, and Gyaos did. It was in numbers that they proved dangerous. A fact they tried to prove by swarming Atreus, who was having a hell of a time holding back the tenebren forces. Godzilla saw this, along with Gipsy Avenger, and the two got to work cutting down the enemy forces. As strong as their armor was, it was still no match for Godzilla’s ax, or Gypsy’s blades. Seeing the two fight, and feeling gratitude for the aid, Atreus continued to fight along with his fellow Titans. Among the chaos, Baragon had managed to avoid being trampled by the two massive armies. But now, he was in the Tenebren forces crosshairs. A Yokai swung its claws at him, but he slashed it across the gut. A group of Trilopods tried to cut him down, but he ducked, and he dodged each attack. And when they got close enough, he either slashed them across the gut, side, or leg, or impaled them on his horn. But when he wasn’t looking, a Yokai snatched him off the ground, and tried to strangle him. It took three stabs to the neck before the Yokai fell down dead.
Unfortunately, Magita finally arrived to the battlefield, prepared to slaughter all in sight. She raised up an arm, and slammed it down on the army, barely missing the Titans but killing several Tenebren forces in the process. Seeing the giant, King Caesar bravely charged forward to attack. Sadly, she swatted him away like an insect. This did, however, inspire others to begin attacking the Trilopod matriarch. Kumonga tried to web up one of her legs, and Angilas curled into a ball and slammed into the side of her head. Tristan and Varan clawed, and scratched at one of her legs, but barely left a mark. And they were kicked away by the massive insect. Godzilla, and Atreus both fired their atomic rays into Magita’s side, but all that succeeded in doing was leaving a small burn. The fliers carefully maneuvered around Magita, trying to get her attention. She was left swinging her arms around, swatting at empty air. All the while, the Earth Defenders continued fighting the Tenebren forces at the same time. It was a two-way battle with seemingly no end in sight.
Aboard his command ship, Karkaro couldn’t help but smile his shark fanged smile at the carnage unfolding…and what else he had planned. “Now do you see, Godzilla?” Karkaro said to himself as his ship aimed at the battlefield. “You, and your friends have failed. Now witness the full power of the Cryog’s fearsome might.” He then turned to his troops, and ordered them to fire at will. The cryog engineers got to work, powering up the ships main weapon. And with the push of a button, the red orb on the front of the ship began to glow before a red beam of energy shot down, and obliterated Cherno Alpha. This did not go unnoticed by the other titans. “That blast came from the Cryog’s ship.” Godzilla said. “I had no idea it was that powerful.” He then went up to Atreus, and asked, “Father, did you see?”
“Yes, we saw, which is why we need to retreat.”
“We won’t get another shot at this if we back out now.”
“We have no choice, my son! Our forces can’t repel firepower of that magnitude!”
“Mothra and Battra are still out there, somewhere! They’ll bring us reinforcements somehow! We gotta give them more time!”
But then suddenly, Magita’s long arm brushed against the ground, sliding right towards the two Gojirans. Godzilla pushed his father out of the way in time for himself to be swatted even further away, towards the mountains. “Seiki!” cried out Atreus, before another group of Yokai tried to attack him, and he tore them apart. Godzilla, meanwhile, found himself hurled towards the mountains, where the Hollywood sign was standing. He landed at the foot of the mountain, dazed and winded, but not out of commission. Raising his ax, he shakily rose to his feet, and got ready to march back to the battlefield.
That’s when he heard it. A faint whisper in his mind beckoning him to come. Beckoning him to find it. As if to aid this endeavor, a hole opened in the side of the mountain large enough for Godzilla to fit through. Though he was cautious to enter, his instincts told him that he should go in. So, against his better judgement, he entered the cave. As he traveled, the cave began turning into a cavern as the very rocks shifted, and changed to allow Godzilla safe passage. Kiryu tried to hail him, but some sort of electromagnetic field disrupted the link. However, Godzilla could now sense as he traveled through the shifting cave that this was no anomaly.
There was something alive down here, and it was summoning him: he could feel it in the Nova Core, itself.
“Whoever you are, I can feel your presence through the Nova Core. Somehow, you’re tied to The Source, and in turn, tied to this planet. You are a guardian, lost to time and cursed to slumber until someone worthy could awaken you. I can feel it: you hold the power of the Primordials, themselves, just like Seraphim. That makes you a protector of this planet. If that’s true, then I ask you - no, I order you: help us now, in our most dire hour of need.”
He soon came upon a brightly lit room that nearly blinded him at first. But his eyes quickly adjusted, and widened at the sight before him: a massive root encircling a large, neon blue orb that was pumping energy like a heart. And based on the rhythm of the beats, and the sound it made, Godzilla could correctly guess that this WAS a heart. A heart flowing with Quintessence in its purest form. His instincts told him to approach the heart, and touch it. They hadn’t been wrong so far, so might as well continue listening. As soon as he was next to the heart, the Nova Core appeared on his chest. And he felt a sense of control he had not felt in a long time. He placed his hand on the heart, then stood by as everything changed.
Another beam blast, and then Crimson Typhoon was little more than a memory. Atreus growled angrily at the way things were progressing. The fliers, including Novus Ghidorah, were holding off Magita for the time being. But unless something happened soon to change this circumstance, then he and the Titans were as good as dead. But then, he began to feel the world shake, and tremble around him. The others did, as well, and were shocked when they looked up to the mountains to see something truly incredible.
Out of the mountain arose a massive figure whose size rivaled that of Magita. The hollywood sign completely fell apart as the figure rose out of the earth, and revealed itself. Yet as all looked upon this massive creature, they couldn’t believe their eyes: it was a Gojiran. But this was no ordinary Gojiran. The beast seemed to resemble a massive, living tree or plant with an impressive form of muscularity that gave the impression of intimidation, and power. His leafy dorsal plates sparkling with quintessence as the creature’s eyes opened to reveal human-like eyes of blue that also showcased intelligence. And when this beast used Soul Speech to talk, it was as if his voice could be heard for miles and miles.
“Gaijira heeds the call of the true king.”
