Wrath of Biollante

“Clear the bridge! Gyozen ordered his crew. Ever since he heard of what happened in Seattle a few days ago, he had been in a foul mood. Despite everything, that fool Tanaki still seemed intent on working with humanity’s enemies. That alone was enough to anger him. But when there was no reprimand for fighting with Godzilla and his team, that just made him fume with rage. But the admiral knew how to keep it to himself. His hands were tied in punishing Tanaki, as he answered directly to the council. So he had to drop the matter, and focus on the Gotengo project.

And now check in on Shiragami regarding another special project to wipe out all monsters. “Ah, admiral,” he said through the visual comm system, “I see that you are almost underway.”

“Not quite, doctor.” Gyozen said. “How is our….”special project” coming along? Were you able to procure the items you needed?”

“Yes, admiral. And i’m happy to report that i’ve just successfully isolated the radiation spectrum in the crystal, and am almost ready to begin the foaming process now.” Gyozen was both confused, and annoyed by this statement. “Foaming process? Spare me the details, Shiragami. I’m not paying you to make ‘bio-lattes’ here. I need that bio-agent, doctor, and I need it weaponized!”

“Temper, admiral.” Shiragami said in an almost mocking tone. “I’ve taken great risks acquiring these samples for your private research project. I must have more time.”

“You have 24 hours, doctor...otherwise, you will be explaining to the council how you came across such highly-classified material. And after the fiasco with the G-Cells 20 years ago, their trust in you might be called into question. Gyozen out.” Shiragami turned away from the screen once Gyozen disappeared, and grunted with displeasure. “Hmph. ‘Bio-lattes’, indeed. Impatient man!” he exclaimed, before going back to work. “Now, where was I?”

In a large room atop a solid platform rested a sample of Godzilla’s scales. Another machine, hooked up to a containment tube holding a large shard of the alien crystals, lowered itself toward the skin sample. After a few keystrokes, a laser fired at the sample. And in a few seconds, the sample appeared to be completely burned out. “Excellent! Phase two, complete. Now, finally, I will introduce the vaporized bioagent into the G-Cells, and record their reaction.”

A few more keystrokes later, and the bio-agent was injected into the G-Cells, with positive results. “Yeeees! Excellent! The G-Cells are reacting as predicted! The bio-agent foam is neutralizing them! SUCCESS! Ha ha ha!” But his jubilation soon turned to horror as something began to happen - something very bad. “Wait a minute….the G-Cells are fighting back. They’re fusing with the bio-agent!” And as a new monstrosity of many tendrils and mouths reached for the doctor, Shiragami had only enough time to shout his repentance...as death closed in on him.

“No! This can’t be happening! What have I unleashed?!”

Godzilla, and Tristan were back in Tokyo while the others rested on Monster Island. There was no choice as Godzilla was far too eager to come here. Even Tristan could sense something important was there, and he insisted on joining his mate to investigate. It took a few hours, but eventually they returned to the city. It was odd that the storms were still raging despite the crystal presence in the city being eradicated. But he paid it little mind as he searched for the source of the presence he, and Tristan detected. However, the search was much harder than it seemed as Tristan returned to Seiki’s side. “We’ve been looking all over the place, Seiki, and haven’t found squat. Do you think maybe it was some kind of mistake?”

“No. There’s no mistaking it.” Godzilla said. “There’s a gojiran out here, and it’s calling out.”

“But...then why would it be out here?” Tristan asked, only for Godzilla to give him a questioning look. “Okay, stupid question. But if there really is another Godzilla out here, how do we find it?”

“I wish I knew, Tristan. But for now, all we can do is wait for a-” Suddenly, a haunting wail filled the air. It was high pitched, and sounded….sorrowful. Like it was crying out for someone to listen. For the pair, it was more heart-wrenching for reasons neither could explain. They could feel the presence belonging to that wail. It was crying out for someone to find it, and possibly help it. “Are you hearing this?” Tristan asked.

“Yeah.” Godzilla said. “Now I just wish I knew where it was coming from.”

“Well, with any luck, we’ll find it soon.”

No sooner had Tristan said that did something actually happen. The ground began to shake, and tremble. And there, just in front of them, a towering form dug its way out of the earth, and roared at them in a more beastial version of the wail they heard. From the basic appearance, it was some kind of plant-based monster, as the leafy exterior of its body, and the tendrils with venus fly traps were on display. But the rest of it was a hunched over beast with thorny spikes running along its back,an amber-glowing core at its center, and a crocodilian head with tusks symmetrically placed on each side of its face. And its mouth was filled with nothing but razor-sharp teeth that were perfect for killing prey.

“What is that thing?” Tristan questioned.

“I don’t know.” Godzilla said. “But I think we found our mysterious caller.”

As soon as the creature laid eyes on Godzilla, it roared in a howling, deep tone that was half a wail and half a bellow. It suddenly grew violent as it lashed out its tendrils at the two kaiju who were standing before it, trying to snap its smaller maws onto their bodies. “Only problem is, this caller is an angry one!” Godzilla exclaimed, before blasting the creature with his atomic breath. It recoiled in agony from the searing heat of Godzilla’s attack, and roared in outrage. It then did something neither of the two were expecting: it rose out of its place, and then slid towards them at incredible speed. In their surprise, the plant creature managed to entangle both kaiju in its tentacles. “How does something that big move that fast?!” Tristan exclaimed, before he was slammed into the watery ground three times.

“Tristan!” Godzilla shouted, before adopting an angry expression. “Okay, you just made the biggest mistake of your life.” He then shot the creature again, making it roar again. But this time, it did something else most unexpected: it reached out, and used soul speech to talk in a female voice. “Not as great a mistake as the ones you’ve made. And you may call me….Biollante.” Biollante then reared back, and launched a stream of green sap that covered Godzilla from head to toe. To his anguish, Godzilla learned that this was, in fact, an acidic compound that was eating away at him, slowly, due to the rain. Even with his healing factor, Godzilla still felt tremendous pain, and it left him vulnerable to attack.

Wrapped tightly in her vines, Godzilla was soon tossed around like a ragdoll in Biollante’s grip. Slammed against every possible surface imaginable like a wrecking ball. All the while, Tristan watched helplessly as his mate was being given such brutal punishment. He had to do something, no matter how much his body hurt, and he was going to do it. Standing back up, he creeped over to Biollante, and let loose his atomic flame. This had a much more desirable result as Biollante was now left screeching, and wailing in anguish as her body burned from the flames. Eventually, she let go of Godzilla, and turned her attention to Tristan. “You dare to harm me so, you insignificant sapling?!” She bellowed. “I will rip you to pieces, and then swallow what remains whole!”

“I get the distinct impression that you’re angry now.” Tristan quipped, just as a tendril barely snagged him.

“You cannot comprehend my sense of existence, you reptilian upstart!” She bellowed, slamming her tendrils down to smash Tristan, but missing. “I am nature’s wrath….her spirit….her will manifest. Hell, I AM mother nature. And as the saying goes: it’s not nice to mess with mother nature.” She finally fired her Acid Sap, hoping to hit Tristan, and melt him down. He dodged, and dove into the water to avoid her attack….but this allowed her to finally use her fly trap appendages to grab his wrists, and ankles, and hoist him into the air. “Did you really think you could defeat me alone.”

“That’s the thing.” Tristan grunted as he struggled. “I didn’t have to beat you,” he smirked, “I just needed you distracted long enough for my plan to work.”

“What plan?” She asked. But then, her eyes widened as she remembered Godzilla. Turning around swiftly, she saw him standing straight, and tall. His wounds healed. His dorsal plates glowing. And his anger was clear to see as he said, “Get away from him, you bitch!” He then blasted Biollante right in the core of her being, causing yellow sap to seap everywhere. This got the intended result as Biollante was put in so much pain, she couldn’t maintain her grip and let go of Tristan. She then glared at him, and bellowed, “YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS!”, and then charged forward with her mouth wide open...fully intent on eating Godzilla whole.

“That’s what they all say.” He then fired his strongest beam - right into Biollante’s mouth, blowing out the back of her throat. Tristan added to the chaos by firing his Flame, and igniting Biollante’s sap-covered body with nuclear fire. A task Godzilla helped with by shooting at the base of her body, and blowing more of her being to shreds. Biollante was left in anguish as her entire body burned, and writhed. She underestimated these creatures, she realized, and now she was paying the price. There was no choice but to retreat, and heal her body for the next opportunity. So she slunk back into the Earth from whence she came, and left Tokyo, and the kaiju to themselves.

“Are you okay, Tristan?” Godzilla asked. “She didn’t hurt you too badly, did she?”

“Never mind me...what about you?” Tristan questioned. “She really did a number on you. I would be afraid if I didn’t know how strong your healing factor is.”

“I’m fine, love. I’ve taken worse punishment than what that overgrown vegetation did to me. Don’t worry about me.” Instead of Tristan leaving it be, he licked the side of Godzilla’s cheek, and said, “Of course I worried...but I still had faith you’d pull through.” He then looked to the spot where Biollante once stood. “I have a feeling this isn’t the last time we’ll see that overgrown tree sprout.”

“With our luck, not likely.” Godzilla said, with a hint of disappointment in his tone. Disappointment at the fact that what he hoped was another Godzilla he sensed turned out to be what he figured was a human experiment. A new mutant, in other words. It just reminded him that he was the last of his kind, and would be for the rest of his life.

But as he looked at Tristan, he took solace in the fact he wasn’t alone.

“Is there any sign of the doctor’s remains, or the bio-agent?” Gyozen asked his field agents.

“Apologies, admiral, but so far we haven’t found any trace of either.” The ship commander said, as the sight of Shiragami’s crystal sample rested behind him. “Just the crystal sample he was experimenting with.”

“I see….that’s terrible news.” Gyozen said with mild sincerity. “Do what you can to find the good doctor, then return to base with the crystal.” The commander saluted Gyozen, and then cut off communication, leaving the admiral to his thoughts.

“So much for the bio-agent idea…..but at least The Crystal Cannon may prove to be more invaluable to the mission.”

Biollante had retreated to the deepest and most secluded regions of Japan where forests, and trees surrounded her. Her wounds were healing, but not as fast as she would have liked. Still, she burned with anger from her humiliation. She hoped to bring others like her so that she would have help in restoring the planet to its natural state. But the two creatures only showed that she may be the only one of her kind, alone and with none to call her own. Yet she wouldn’t take this defeat lying down. She would recover, and then she would return this planet to its natural state - and possibly pay back the two who defeated her.

It seems someone else had the same idea, as Biollante was met with the sight of several monsters lined up in a row: Megaguirus, Obsidius, Thanatos, and Battra, with Krystalak at the front with a wide grin on his face.

“Greetings, Biollante.”
