I wonder if anyone's surprised by this? After all, SPacegodzilla is my favorite Godzilla villain in the bunch. It only made sense to pit these two together as arch-nemeses. Sure, you could argue that King Ghidorah is the archenemy. But I feel like that's only prevalent in The Showa and Monsterverse due to established reasons. Everywhere else, it doesn't feel like it's personal between them the way it's supposed to be with Archenemies.

But the day he debuted, Spacegodzilla MADE it personal.

He invaded Godzilla's island home, assaulted his son, used his superior powers to completely humiliate his progenitor in a one-on-one match where he used Little Godzilla as a means of getting at his father, THEN locked said son in an impervious crystal cage that could only be destroyed following Spacegodzilla's death. He then proceeded to build a crystal fortress for himself to empower himself for the coming battle against Godzilla. He's a cunning strategist who uses his cosmic powers to win his battles, and even uses the environment to his advantage via his crystals. In THCW, he immediately neutralized Mechagodzilla so as to dispose of a possible menace. Godzilla also uses animal cunning to win his fights, but Spacegodzilla has an above-human intellect that gives him an edge in battle. Now, if only he would actually predict when he's going to be double-teamed, then he would win more often.

And the hatred these two hold for each other is on a whole, 'nother level.

In GIH, the two fought to a standstill in Brazil in a fight to the death. Both of them drew so much power that, supposedly, they destroyed the earth just to kill each other - and that's not even counting the craziness that happened in Hell. In ROE, or the IDW Trilogy, he was forced into an alliance with Godzilla to fight off a group of Trilopods who had assimilated Megaguirus, and SG. During the fight, the pair got trapped in a crystal cage with seemingly no way out. This was the moment the pair's hatred for one another (Godzilla for the havoc he wreaked last time he came to earth, i think, and Spacegodzilla for humiliating him and thwarting his invasion of the planet) bubbled to the surface. But then they realized they would have to stifle it in order to win. So, pooling their gojiran might, they escaped their prison, and wiped out the Trilopods. But the effort exhausted Godzilla to the point he passed out. Spacegodzilla took this chance to literally kick him while he was down, and then finish off his mortal enemy. But then he sensed more trilopods on the way, and decided he didn't want to expend his energies any further. So he roared what I assume was a "This isn't over!" in Godzilla's face, took to his flying form, and left to plot his revenge.

And yes I say plot because Spacegodzilla is an independent kaiju who answers only to himself. He seeks to conquer the earth of his own volition, he eliminates potential rivals like the Cryog and his former ally, Gigan, and he recognizes Godzilla as his one, true equal on the planet. The only one who could stop him. In every battle it's been this way, and I have a feeling it's never going to end. I'm not sure if any of this justified my reasoning, but I hope it explains why I believe these two Gojirans are perfectly qualified to be arch-nemeses.
