For being such a huge Sonic fangirl, I don't have nearly enough worthy pics of him! So here is a sweet, sweet pic of True Blue holding a power ring. SatAM started using this particular "power up" style in "Sonic Conversion" in season 2, and kept it through the rest of the series since it's AWESOME! It's all like a glowy... proton.... or something XD. I think my pic turned out a little too smooth, but... I'm proud! ^____^Anyone see the "CHALLENGE FOR DIEHARDS" in the description of my recent SatAM fanfic? Well, we have a way past cool WINNER!!! came out of the blue and nailed it! In a close second, got them all right the next day. Both will be receiving a request pics from me, and fittingly, both chose illustrations of scenes from the fanfic! Yay! Congratulations to our SatAM diehards!!!

I like to think of the Power Ring in the cartoon as Popeye's Spinach since both get stronger and instantly kickass. Also, it's once in every episode(almost).

Hahah Yeah! When I was a kid it was one of the three Sonic shows I use to watch usually before school, and I loved it, I think most of my personality may have come of watching Sonic growing up...
Anyways yeah I was really sad back than when the show stopped...
But yeah watching it again today it's laughable and brings back so many memories!

haha Well people usually find it really easy to get along with me, I'm very very adventure driven, and the biggest thing about me is that I hold freedom really high, so I normally HATE being told what to do, and pretty much live life to my own rules, which tends to get me into all kinds of crazy situations, but i love the challenges I find myself in, I think its all fine though we only live once, and as long as I don't disrupt other peoples flow of life, why not right?
I think because of this there are alot of people who think I'm a really awesome person, while others hate me! hahah
Anyways Awesome, I'll be impatient to see your new stuff!
If ever working on Sonic things and you come up stuck on anything, remember to just take a deep breath shake out and feel calm and free and take a bite of a chili dog, it'll really give you a feel for it, and i'm sure that will put you right back on track...

The one thing I truely miss about the whole Sonic fandom, the importance of the power rings! The ones in Sonic X are so tiny compared to the quick explosion of power they once had.
Do the comics even use power rings anymore, period? I haven't seen Sonic touch a ring in ages, especially after Nate Morgan.

Hehe, this reminds me of just how uber the rings were back then. They were like the chaos emeralds of their time. Makes me wonder just how powerful Sonic would be with a single emerald if they introduced them to SatAM.
Very nice job on coloring Sonic. His body looks almost 3Dish.

Though, how did you do those light arches? Is there some sort of glow option for curves?

Thank you! I did use the pen tool, and as for how I made the arches, they were just ellipses. Each white "one" had two - the one on the top layer was just solid white, and the one below it was white and then gaussian blurred to look glowy. The big yellow ring was several layers of glowiness - it started out as an ellipse too but I did a wave distortion to make it wiggly like that.

I love the shading and the top-down perspective. You nailed the 'cool' factor of the power-up and still managed to capture everything mystical about the use of Power Rings.

Going for the slightly over the top lighting drama. It works. The shading is especially good here, and his expression works very good.
Simply put, a VERY pleasing to the eye work.
