Omg.... NEW art from me!!!!
This has got to be the fastest complete work turnaround time for me ever. I sketched this in class just 3 days ago! I tried some new things when coloring it, and I really like the result!
For the background I used a combo of two stock pics by ~Shioon , "Light Texture 02 " and "Light Texture 11 ".

Reminds me of when he was singing that hilariouslly cheesey song in SatAM while playing a guitar in one ep.

To be fair, we never hear all of Ant's "puum," sence Sonic interupts him.

And I really hate to nitpick over a really good pic but how does he hold up the guitar without a strap?

Haha, I knew someone would call me out on that - you're the first one! I debated about adding a guitar strap, but Sonic doesn't really have clear shoulders to put one on XD ... That, and I realized that all the players in Rock Band and Guitar Hero don't have guitar straps, so I figured that not having one was mainstream enough to leave it out.
But hey, at least I gave him a pick! A lot of people seem to forget that it would be very hard to strum with gloves on... ^_^

That's a good question! In a layer above the lineart, I filled in Sonic's whole form with black. Then I blurred it a bit, trimmed the blurriness from outside the lines, and decreased the opacity of the layer. This is why the outer edges of Sonic and the guitar are lighter than the rest. From there I tweaked it a bit with a light, blurry brush, adding some additional shading and highlights.
For the lights in the background, I used a combo of those stock photos and a lighting effects rendering to make the stage-looking lights.
If that didn't make sense I can explain more - I don't mind giving advice! ^_^

I tell ya, there's a lot of pictures of Sonic and crew playing instruments out here on DA, but not many of them work as well as this one. The coloring is phenomenal, the pose is great, and I absolutely ADORE that expression! That smile is just SO Sonic! Infact, it represents the Sonic I know and love.
I would tell you that I'm going to fave. this, but it was already faved approximately 0.0000001 seconds after I first saw it. LOL
