Description This is a technique that I learned 7 years ago, and is still one of the most useful things I know today. I'm passing it down to you guys in hope that someone will find it useful.

On Photoshop CC 2015, the little buttons have turned into the Quick Mask button. It's the one at the bottom of the bar that looks like the EU flag. Click it once before you paste, you should see your artwork in red, then press it again to turn it off and select.

Is there anyone who can figure this out for Photoshop elements? I can't find any thing that will turn my picture red.

this is immensely useful to me and i was hoping i could get the buttons/actions you used in the not "ctrl+" something b/c i only have photoshop elements which came with my tablet i couldnt afford/still cant afford the legit adobe photoshop program. idk if it's the same or not but i could figure everything out if i had the buttons/action/sections to go under

What's the button called that you press that shows the red outline of your drawing and the one that you press after that?

I can't really see what buttons to press; the images are kinda small. Plus, I'm using CS6, so maybe the buttons are different too.

Aaah, oh well. This is a useful tip, nonetheless. Thanks.

OH. OH GOD. NEVER MIND. I HAVE FOUND IT.

For those using CS6, the button is on the very bottom, second to last. Just click it.

Sadly the short cuts must have changed. I have CS5 and this doesnt work. ctrl a selects everything and ctrl n makes a whole new project. And i cant tell what button turns it red. If you know how to fix this that would be greatly appreciated. If not its alright c:
Also, thanks for making this, by the way. I know me saying it doesnt work probably sounds ungrateful or something or rude or? But I dont mean it to be D:

Hi there! I've gotten this from someone else with CS5. I use CS5 on my other computer, but something happened to it and now it crashes every time I try to open it so I haven't been able to use it which is why I've been using CS2 instead. I know for sure that it works on it because it's the same technique I've been using, but I'll let you know once I can get my version of it working again.

everytime i use critical A it selects the whole thing and then after I use critical X it ends me up with a transparent background. Did I do something wrong?

Ooo, this is very useful. I've always wondered how to do this somewhat efficiently without destroying my drawing in the process. I shall give it a go! Thank you!
