Can I use a desktop LCD?

onwa7 In reply to WitchOfStories [2013-09-18 22:26:55 +0000 UTC]

yes i think you can, but you must be careful, there is some high voltage capacitor that can be dangerous even if the screen is unpluged =o!

What should I do to prevent it?!

MasterInsanity In reply to WitchOfStories [2013-10-27 05:18:56 +0000 UTC]

Thick rubber (must be rubber, not acrylic) gloves should do the trick in terms of preventing shock.

One question,do you braze the cable on the cut part or do you used a LED String without attachments? I never had used a brazing tool iam afraid and no experiance in mounting switchs

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to Lunalight [2013-05-16 00:30:37 +0000 UTC]

yes i braze the cable on the cut part but only to connect the two led Stripe(on the 2 edge) , it's not hard ! the brazing point are indicated on the led stripe .
and there is some cuttting point on the strip to indicate where to cut (every 3 led)) to make it work without brazing

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to LenaliaBee [2013-05-14 19:04:21 +0000 UTC]

LenaliaBee In reply to onwa7 [2013-06-02 17:58:42 +0000 UTC]

[url=[link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to LenaliaBee [2013-06-02 18:46:15 +0000 UTC]

This is awesome I will be making one for myself.
Quick question though because I havent been able to figure it out on my own,
What do you use exactly for the framing?
I dont understand "electrical cable container"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to amizonmistress1 [2013-04-29 13:46:34 +0000 UTC]

i use a strange plastic to put cable and hide it inside after it's put at the bottom edge of a wall.. i don't know the name =s
but it's better to use plastic paper binder like this : [link]

I so want to make it...
I found a LCD screen, which "doesn't work" because there are horizontal lines appearing on the screen. Does it matter actually, or will it work as lightbox' screen?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to Szejdi-Szejdi [2013-04-01 11:23:36 +0000 UTC]

it should work, your line problem look like an lcd panel probleme, but we dont really care because we are only using the backlight glass layer under this lcd panel !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Szejdi-Szejdi In reply to onwa7 [2013-04-01 13:14:33 +0000 UTC]

Yay, that's good Because all cheap screens I found have either this problem or have some dark ('blind') spots. Thank you for reply

Sprites7 [2013-03-28 17:46:11 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to Sprites7 [2013-03-28 18:26:23 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sprites7 In reply to onwa7 [2013-03-29 23:03:18 +0000 UTC]

i have a old flat screen tv with a broken screen( picture shows cracked/black out parts but outer layer isnt cracked), will this work on it? if not any ideas?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onwa7 In reply to spydrmunkie [2013-03-28 18:19:33 +0000 UTC]

i use a laptop screen, i dont really know how it mades on a tv flat screen, but i think it will have more part to remove and can contains high voltage capacitor (320V or higher) that can be dangerous even if your screen is unpluged, so be careful =o..
but it can contain the needed glasses layer
