Description
I set myself the challenge of going through all the brushes I have one by one and using them somewhere in this; I only got about half way through. It was harder than I thought, but helped loads with knowing what ones are good for certain things. Plus I'm really fond of red deer (probably because they're one of the only large mammals you can see in the UK) but it morphed into a revisit of the forest elemental/creature theme I seem to keep doing, though I like this the most so far.(c) me!

I like the idea of the challenge you set yourself. And I just adore the colour range you have chosen - all those shades of brown and green create such a great atmosphere. Not to mention the backlight.
However, I would probably run as fast as I can, if I see a deer like the one you've painted. It seems that rain doesn't make him happy at all.

This is an absolutely beautiful illustration! I love the monotone green with subtle hints of amber and how the spot lighting adds a really strong impact to the overall scene and gives the appearance of breaks in the clouds that allow for the sun to shine through on this rainy day. I also like your choice of brush that you used on the tree in the foreground and how you applied it to give the tree a twisted look which works very well with the whole mystique of the forest. You also did a very nice job on the fur of the red deer as it truly appears wet and therefore consistent with the rest of the scene.
And so I'd just like to conclude by saying that you've done some excellent work here and your attention to detail does not go unnoticed. And a big congratulations on the well-deserved Daily Deviation!

Thanks! I was trying to use a range of colours, though I now think it could do with more varied greens!

No I like it the way it is, the balance of greens and warmer oranges/reds is spot on
