Description
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you a list of my top ten favorite villains of my childhood plus one most recently. Why? Because let's be honest, some of our best childhood memories are of brave heroes and heroines trying to overcome brutal or charismatic villains. I am here to honor that tradition.#10 Lyle Rourke from Atlantis: The Lost Empire:
"I prefer the term 'adventure capitalist'."
The reason I put him so low on the list is because his goal is simple: Find magic glowing MacGuffin, steal said MacGuffin while blatantly disregarding the lives of others and sell MacGuffin to highest bidder and make a hefty profit. However, for the first act and second act, we don't assume he's a villain until the third act where he reveals his true colors. Plus his death is both awesome and a little bit scary.
#9 Nidhiki from Bionicle: Legends of Metru-Nui:
"This time, your farewell will be forever, Brother!"
Nidhiki is what you would call a "fallen hero". He was once a noble Toa of Air before being corrupted and becoming a Dark Hunter. This guy works in three areas. One is his design, sort of a spider/crab/xenomorph thing that shoots energy blasts that entangle his enemies. Another is his voice, supplied by Paul Dobson who offers him a hissing, gravely voice, ironic considering Paul also voiced Naraku from Inuyasha who happens to have a deep voice. Finally is his origin which I mentioned earlier.
#8 Discord from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
"Make sense? Oh, what fun is there in making sense?"
Before you ask, YES I've watched MLP:FIM. YES I consider myself a fan. NO I AM NOT A BRONY. In fact, the only time I would ever buy MLP merchandise would be for my four-year-old niece. Discord, to me, is far better than any of the other villains from MLP for a few reasons. The main reason is his goal: to have fun at others' expense. Basically, he's not truly evil, he's just chaos given physical form. But there's one thing that a certain artist here on Deviantart fails to understand: Discord. Broke. The. Mane. 6. Yes, I know that they'll try to reform him in an upcoming episode but Twilight would never forgive him nor fall in love with him and even if she did, it wouldn't be that simple. Throw in a nice chimera-looking design and the voice of John De Lancie and make him absolutely hilarious and you've got an enjoyable villain.
#7 Shan-Yu from Mulan
"Stop me? He *invited* me. By building his wall, he challenged my strength. Well, I'm here to play his game."
If I were to describe this guy in one word it would be "badass". This guy is one of the most intimidating villains from Disney's rogue gallery. Not only in terms of design and body build, but also the fact he is a military strategist. Even when his army of fellow Huns are buried/crushed beneath an avalanche only leaving a handful of men, he still executes an almost successful plan to kidnap the emperor just to make him kneel. DAMN!
#6 SpaceGodzilla from the Godzilla franchise:
"A gruesome mockery of our own defender."
- The Shobijin describing SpaceGodzilla
Out of all the monsters from the Godzilla franchise, SpaceGodzilla ranks as one of the most powerful and intelligent of Godzilla's adversaries. He has one of two origins in the film canon while an unknown origin in the IDW comic universe. While Godzilla is a neutral force of nature, SpaceGodzilla is cruel, malicious and unrelenting. Plus, he taunts Godzilla by imprisoning his son. That's just evil.
#5 Roodaka from Bionicle: Web of Shadows
"FOOLS! You, like your powers, are NOTHING if you are not united!"
For a while, I always thought Roodaka was the only female villain from Bionicle until Gorast came around. But until that point, we had Roodaka and she still holds up as one of the scariest and deadly villains of the Bionicle universe. While she was merely the viceroy of the spider-like Visorak and second-in-command to Sidorak, she was far more dangerous and far more threatening. She also brought a main character under her control. Unlike Chrysalis or Ursula who use magic, she actually got Vakama on her side simply by messing with his emotions. Sweet. Monkey balls.
#4 Joker from Batman the Animated Series
"The fact of the matter is we each have an "Almost Got 'Im" Batman story. I know mine's the best, but let's hear yours' anyway. I'd say ladies first but since we don't have any, we'll start with you, Pam."
Where do I begin? Let's start by saying this is the best incarnation of the Joker. Even better than Cesar Romero, even better than Jack Nicholson and even better than Heath Ledger. Why? BECAUSE HE'S VOICED BY MARK HAMILL! The guy can make the Joker funny, threatening and scary. 'Nuff said.
#3 Bane from Justice League: Doom:
"When we fought before I broke the BAT. Today, I break the MAN."
To me, this is the closest we get to a faithful interpretation of the Man who Broke the Bat. Spanish accent? Check. Utilizes Venom only when he's overwhelmed? Check. Intelligent? Double check. Again, 'nuff said.
#2 Monster X from Godzilla Final Wars:
"Well now, let's enjoy the main event: The last chapter of the Godzilla saga."
-Xilien Commander prior to X's arrival
This kaiju from the latest Godzilla movie until the 2014 reboot also happens to be one of Godzilla's most powerful adversaries. His design is nothing i have ever seen out of a Godzilla movie being sort of a skeletal/Doomsday/xenomorph creature. Not to mention his transformation into Keizer Ghidorah is epic beyond all words.
And the #1 villain is...
Makuta Teridax from Bionicle... ALL of them:
"Sleep spares him pain. Awake he suffers."
This guy is the most successful villain in this countdown. Through several plans, he managed to send his brother Mata Nui into a deep slumber and conquered the universe. Many times he has been defeated and many times more he has come back in some shape or form. He cannot be truly destroyed, only delayed. And that is why Makuta Teridax is the #1 villain of this countdown.

Actually, the comics version of Bane is meant to be a smart bruiser who uses Venom. Sorry, but JLAD Bane is the more accurate one.Β

Yeah, but he's featured prominently in the IDW comics (Godzilla Ongoing and Half-Century War for starters).

I agree with your #1 villain choice, Not only is he a bad a$$ villain, but he's a freakin bio-mechanical God of darkness and destruction, a manipulative mastermind, and actually succeeded all his original intents

I love Teridax, however I don't know whether he or The Master from Doctor Who would be #1 for me statistics wise. But in general awesomeness I'd go for Teridax. Also I'd have Destroyah and the Daleks somewhere in my top ten as well.
I plan on eventually constructing a colossal revamp/version of him that is hyper complex. Unfortunately though I have no money to buy the parts that I need to even finish the two MOCs that I am working on now. At least I'll be getting $180 out of $300 owed to me in a few weeks. Hopefully it is enough to buy the parts needed to complete those and acquire half the pieces for Teridax.
