I'm going to assume that this is a larger and more powerful subspecies of the MUTOs from the movie.
Looks like a hybrid of a MUTO and Obsidius. I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah, but it's a Muto that creates seismic waves. So, yeah, picture the cone of influence of Femuto and Hokmuto, but instead of knocking out power, it wipes out everything within range.Β

True, but why couldn't they design a new kaiju that looked completely different from the Mutos that had similar powers? Why did it have to be "Muto but with some more bits slapped on to it."
I dunno, maybe Legendary/WB/Toho was being a stickler about it, didn't want them to deviate too far.
