I have not seen this movie for more than a year, but I still feel like it, although I have to agree with some in:
Great villain concept, a poor execution.
SpaceGodzilla needs to return to a movie sooner or later because even this character has untapped potential.

Umm ... honestly, I think I'd prefer to stay with Godzilla vs. Biollante or with Godzilla vs. Destroyah as a favorite of the Heisei era, although maybe I'll come back sometime to keep an eye on Godzilla vs Space Godzilla (I have not seen it for more 2 years).

Yeah, SpaceG would have been served well by some greater creativity and not having the end battle drag quite so much. I know for me personally a large part of what I love about the movie was giving Miki the lead character role, it was very nice seeing her take center stage.

If ... you have the reason here, there was something that I think was in the final battle that maybe made a dent in the critical or box office reception of the film, but I'm not sure what it was that did not go well .
I guess the thing would have been better if they had stayed with the original concept, where the villain would have been a certain "Astro-Godzilla".
I also found interesting the fact that the Heisei Continuity would have chosen to include a psychic as a main character.

The picture is way better than the film was. Crystalized skin would've worked better for Space Godzilla, not those shoulder crystals.

Lackluster movie...but pretty stellar art. I like that you have lightened the colors here. The details in both giants really stands out really well. I also like the building too. Good work on the bit of damage on it as well. The white light in the center of it makes it seem a bit more like an active scene and not just a stagnate shape that is leaning to one side.

I seem to have a fondness for the ones the greater fanbase doesn't find very appetizing. I draw a distinction for sure between ones I think are genuinely the best quality films versus the ones I just enjoy the most for their fun factor, which is obviously why Spacegodzilla, Megaguirus and Final Wars are all in my top ten personal favorites in spite of their silliness. The funny thing I did this one and the Megaguirus one before it at random out of a hat, had a good laugh over that. But thanks, I'm trying hard with these posters and the Toho actor pics to set a new standard for myself, I hate looking back and feeling like the old works are sub par which I often do.

The reason I don't like this one (or the the other two next to this movie) is it feels too slow and I keep falling asleep while trying to watch them.

The reality of a long franchise is definitely that not every movie is going to please every fan the same way. I have the same issue of staying awake for the Kiryu films, though it seems most of the fanbase (especially the younger fans) seem to adore it. Picking and having personal favorites is no bad thing.

I find myself just fast forwarding through the movies now, the only human story I like is in Godzilla vs Gigan, but everyone seems to hate that movie.

SWEET! It was my first Godzilla movie I remember watching, my dad bought me a two pack, Gigan and Mechagodzilla on VHS. Good times, good times.
You know how the stock footage goes from day to night in some shots, as a kid I just thought the fight went on for like a week.

Enjoy is the key word, I feel like a lot of fans look down on this one because it's not quite as high in story value or execution, but honestly I thought the point was we just enjoyed watching the Big G doing his thing? I love the G-Suit in this one especially.
