Thanks to the art book for Shin Godzilla being released and images getting online, we finally got a good look at the hybrid skeletal Godzillas that appeared at the end of the film on the tail, and I'm only a little annoyed that my original images from it weren't quite as on the nose as I had hoped
I know these things have spawned a lot of controversy, but honestly I like these guys. I think they're neat, even if they do completely reek of Evangelion inspiration. But hey, it's fine, I don't mind new twists on my old favorite character so long as they stick to their guns, and Shin definitely stuck to them which was to go all out nuts
Anywho I like the hybrids, and if they don't release any merchandise of them soon expect to see a homemade hybrid statue or figure from me at point, because my collection is officially incomplete without at least one of these ugly buggers in there.

Am I the only one that has noticed that the face of the humanoid is the chest and neck piece of shin godzilla? The hole in the center is where a new godzilla's head and neck grow out of, the cheek bones are kamata kun's arms and the top of the head is where his dorsal spines would grow.

Considering that Shin was spawning these things at the end, I'm getting an AoT vibe from that idea. Since they are under his control (I assume that they would have some form of hive mind) so that they wouldn't resist him, even though that would be extreamly stupid. I do love the design, really creepy. (I can just see a horde of them over running multiple cities, a world wide epidemic that can't be resisted, no matter how much weapons you have.)
(they are kind of a mix with xenomorph, human, and Shin Godzilla. Just saying) ( though that comment about the super soldier gone wrong plot idea would be awesome!

I appreciate that, because honestly there's part of my earlier one I think look better than the official one as well, especially facially. It's an ok design, but the accurate one makes too many people think of Xenomorphs with good reason, and I hate to think of a really good Godzilla movie being bogged down by people thinking they're being derivative.

It's different, but is it really that bad or bizarre or unacceptable? I only ask because of all the hard negativity I've seen about it, but we're talking about a series where a giant radioactive dinosaur has flown with his own fire breath, danced go-go on an alien planet, been erased from history by time travelers who created a three headed dragon with lizard cats, used his body as a giant electromagnet, defied gravity by sliding on his tail and almost destroyed the planet by turning into a walking fission bomb. Is it really that "bad" that they try something new that's actually kind of a terrifying idea, that he could create an army of monsters from his own body to destroy us?
I think the fans need to chill. It's not the end of the franchise, no offense.

I think a great deal of backlash is from how some people glommed onto this and have acted like it's the bestest Godzilla incarnation ever. That and people who just feel stuff like Evangelion is grossly overrated.

fair, it's far from my favorite (I ranked it 22nd or so out of the total series of 31 films), but I was just happy to see a return to the big screen. It's probably similar to what I felt when the 2014 movie came out, much as I like it I heard too many people declaring immediately, "This is my favorite! This is the best one ever!" While I'm sitting here thinking, "This is a knee jerk reaction, they're excited, they need to give it time to settle and assess after the hype has cleared." Nothing against anyone who legitimately does feel that Legendary or Shin are their favorites, that's perfectly fine, but I understand what you're getting at.
