Okay the movie Shin Godzilla REALLY needs to make a sequel,like seriously they need to do it,this is such a huge door open for a sequel. And besides the the movie "Shin Godzilla" is the highest grossing movie in Japan this year.

That is very freaky. π¨ And just think. If they make a sequel that has Godzilla break free from his situation, it's probably gonna end up being a gorey bloodbath. Because those things will have a chance to get free too. And they'll probably be very hungry. π±

The whole scenario if done right would be delightfully freakish, kind of Xenomorphs meet Pumpkinhead, but I'm uncertain if Toho would take that route with the story.Β I HOPE they do, but it's gonna be a wait and see thing unfortunately, making a good film with those creatures AND more giant kaiju on top of it would be a pretty expensive proposition for them.

I jumped on the super spoiler train because spoilers honestly don't bother me, but also because I wanted to get some ideas for some future art pieces.Β There's a lot of leaked video and images already, including from the scene this was taken from, but I have a friend in Tokyo who confirmed it was legit.

I hope you had a grand old time, we had a pretty respectful theater but I did hear a couple of people snoring XD.Β It was a rough ride with those subtitles but I'm glad it worked out that we got it so soon before the weather turned sour.

I liked the movie but there was quite a bit of laughter that I didn't understand and quite annoyed me. I gave up trying to read the subs on the top of the screen. I was more interested in the dialogue than the names and places. I really liked the new atom beam G uses. I loved how it started out as what appeared to be pure fire until I assume it reached a high enough temp and then 'pop' white hot atom beam like a butane torch. I thought the protective membrane over his eye was a cool touch. I'm leaning more toward the theory that even the primary look for G in this movie isn't the final form. I could definitely feel the 'Evangelion'ness brought by Anno. There was even some music that sounded like it was straight from NGE. And that one lady in the research group that never smiled until the end really felt like the one character from NGE, Rei Ayanami. What did you think of it? I will say, I LOVED that there was no unnecessary love story.

I thought the two female leads were DEFINITELY echoes of Rei and Misato from Eva XDΒ The film had some balancing issues but on the whole I did really appreciate what Anno and Higuchi brought to the table, it was a fresh take that the franchise really could relish in after a 12 year hiatus in Japan.Β Lots of creativity here, but I hope you're right and that there are more changes in store for the character, because I actually liked the red form the most of the three and would feel a little dissatisfied if we were stuck with the big black form for the rest of however long this particular timeline may or may not last.Β I will look forward to seeing it in dubbed English though because even though I love seeing G-Films in their native language this one was tough, so much to take in.Β My autistic little brother is gonna have a reaaally hard time of it when I take him to see it next week, but he's as devoted to the character as I am so I know he'll still get a kick out of seeing his favorite monster anyway

I'm really hoping that the sequel either has him come out of the 'frozen' state as the grey/green closer to the traditional look or somehow one or all of those humanoid things change into the classic version. You'll have to let me know how your brother likes it. My sisters kids are all on the spectrum and my mom even thinks I have Aspergers so I'm interested in knowing what he thinks.

*Shrug*Β Honestly as a G-Fan for almost 30 years, I'm up for new twists on the character so long as he fundamentally stays true.Β This freakish weirdness doesn't really betray that to me, it's just a new echo on the whole "horrors of nuclear energy/mad science" theme, but I can totally get why people aren't digging it.

I was okay with the "different" Atomic Breath,Β I likedΒ the multiple forms thing (spilled that because it's been a rumorΒ since the design was leaked) but that ending is where I drew the line. I've been a Godzilla fan almost all my life, and while I understand they want to try new things,Β I really just plain don't like it. Β

I remember when we talked face to face at G Fest, we got on the topic of this film, that was back before we got any spoilers, and I was at the top of my hype for the film, and you mentioned how Anno likes to do "earth shattering plot twists". While I didn't say it, in the back of my mind was "*gulp*.

XDΒ Ah, yeah, I can see where that would be a little disconcerting.Β I'm just glad (based on reviews) that it's nowhere near as confusing as his Evangelion films.Β Here's to release day
