I may not be the most enthusiastic fanboy ever on this design, but whatever, I'm still gonna count my blessings that we get a new movie and it at least HAS a monster fight.Β Besides, it'll probably look better onscreen than the toys lead me to assume.Related content

To me the MUTO looks like a combination of Cloverfield,Gigan and Gyaos .

That's exactly what I said when we saw the design for the MUTO released, and I'm still not completely happy with the design of the female but I can't complain too hard, especially since we're getting a sequel.

Looks as if this monster is already getting pretty popular very fast and the movie isn't out yet.

I guess for a lot of G-Fans it's just finally having something "new" for the Big G to fight.Β Technically Monster X was just a beta Ghidorah as it turns out, so for a lot of us long timers it's just kinda nice to have something that's not a rehash of Ghidorah, Mothra or Mechagodzilla, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the design.Β But, I expect it'll still look pretty sweet onscreen, gonna find out tonight anyway

Well I guess you're right, for quite a time in the last series of the franchise there weren't many new foes for Big G to fight and even his last so called ,,new" enemy turned out to be just a variant of Ghidorah ( a this also made me very unhappy since in my opinion they should have kept Monster X as a monster of his own ) and now with a completely new foe it was kinda expected for the fans to start to make it so popular.
And alright, and how was the movie btw since I'm sure you already saw it by now ?

Agree about Monster X, should have been his own thing.
The movie was very satisfying, not perfect but very satisfying, and I'm glad it was made. Β It did a few things that genuinely surprised me, and I applaud Edwards for his choices. Β At the end of the day it redeems the American endeavor to recreate Godzilla, and for that I'm extremely grateful.

And great to hear that it was a success and since it is such a big one I'm pretty sure that there could be numerous sequel coming in the future, probably even bring most if not all of the kaijus from all the movies and I guess also many new ones since now with Big G's new origin I think lots of new and unexpected stuff will happen.

Hey, Cloverfield was awesome. And this is design, while similar to J.J. Abrams' design, still is something new and original in its own way.

I do like Cloverfield a lot, I really do, but I just would have been happier if the Muto hadn't come off as so derivative, that's all.Β The leaked footage especially showed just how close they are in Muto's walking scenes, and it's a bit disappointing to be so distracted by how much a "new" thing reminds you of another creature.

If there is anything I can fangasm with the Muto is the horse legs. It's not every day that we have a bizarre, unique creature with horse legs. Definitely something to admire.

Yeah, I can honestly say I never saw that design choice coming...now all the movie needs is a scene of Goji trying to sneak up on Muto only to have Muto horse kick him in the store, you know like horses will do.Β But what am I saying, this isn't Michael Bay's Godzilla, there won't be any crotch shots on giant monsters

Yeah I really liked those pics based on the early comic con footage, but who knows maybe that thing will still show up somehow as another monster.

I'm with you on that. Though I am starting to warm up to the design a little each day. When I first saw it it, I was like "that's an alien...not a bug". But I am liking it more and more. I think it is cause my brain has gotten away from the shock. But you nailed it though...we fans should just count our blessings that this is going to be a traditional Godzilla "verses" type of movie...and not another stand alone movie.

You probably know this, but there's actually two Mutos in the film, the "Hokmuto" which is the male, and the "Femuto", which is, well, the female.
