Sheesh, finally got this one done. You ever start a little side project and it just takes months to finish because you never manage to get back to it? Yeah, this one. I actually did this one for two reasons. The good reason is because I'm in a minority of TMNT fans that actually really enjoyed Venus, I thought she was fun and a pleasant addition to that particular incarnation of the Ninja Turtles. But it's definitely a minority from what the internet tells me, it seems the fanboys get pretty harsh in their criticism of her. Oh well, I'm just not gonna be one of 'em.The second reason was because there's a particular artist on this site whose work I unfortunately have to scroll past whenever I get the hankering to look up new submissions for this character, and to be blunt it's insulting and disgusting to have to wade past his crap in order to find the good pics. My policy is if something disgusts you....do better. Fill the Deviant art library with better material because someone else out there is going to be pining for the gems in the pools of garbage, so I'd like to hope I'm adding to the good stuff for them as fellow fans. I know it's a silly reason, but it still allowed me some practice on a character I like.

Pretty nice. Venus does get a lot of unnecessary hate, perhaps if she had been on a different incarnation of the Ninja Turtles it could have been different.

Truth. I can't help but wonder if she would have made a better splash in the 2003 show, but then again Laird's always hated the idea of female companions on the show outside of April. He beat down the idea of Mona Lisa even being a regular on the show, thus her single appearance. Sad, honestly.

Yeah, I would have loved to have seen Venus, and Mona for that matter, in the 2003 series. I knew about how against Venus Laird was, but I didn't realize it didn't end with her. Then again I think I remember hearing somewhere he had this thing about not wanting the turtles to have the possibility to procreate. Dumb in my opinion if that is true.
I would say maybe since Mona, or a new version at least since she has little in common with the original, appeared in the new series there's hope, but she was a fan favorite from the 87 cartoon, what many people unfortunately consider the only one that really matters(and also incorrectly believe it to be the original Ninja Turtle series), while Venus is a divisive character even today from a series that was admittedly not that good and even worse received. I think the decal on the side of the Party Wagon 2 is the best we're gonna get.

I would like her to show up again, it's not like she'd be bound to any previous incarnation since this show doesn't necessarily do that, though I know the chances, at least for now, are pretty slim. It would be neat to see 80's Mona show up, and she at least doesn't seem too unlikely, I mean heck, there's going to be a full on crossover with the 87 series coming up, with the classic voices. Sure, Mona may not show up there, but that just makes it seem more possible in any future scenes with the 87 universe we'll see.

Wish I had read your advice a few weeks ago (there's a particular anti-JW, anti-Rex, anti-13 year old who's beating two dead horses and a dead elephant with a dead whale); I'd like to think that if they hadn't tried to have a love-triangle with her and Leo and Raph, she wouldn't be hated nearly as much (but then again her character never really bothered me and I've run into similar fan-made characters that get romantically involved with the Turtles so some of the hate feels hypocritical).

One of my biggest gripes with Venus is the fact that she has plastron boobs. One does not simply stick mammalian features onto a reptile, and make it look appealing. Well, maybe appealing to a few certain...people. You know the ones.
Besides that, I really have no reason to hate her. I really wouldn't, it's just....

Well, technically Mona Lisa from the old cartoon had a "bust" as well (but she was human before she was turned). I just presumed it was the mutagen effect, that the animals or humans took on traits of the last creature they came into contact with. In her case she did come into contact with her human master, a mammal, so I just excused it as a mammalian female trait being passed onto her. I know it's still a weak excuse, but it puts my mind at east

I guess it does, but another thing that bothers me about Venus is the fact that her plastron fits snugly around her (competely useless) breasts. Plastron is like armor, right? What happens when she falls over? That middle part between the chest plates would dig into her, possibly damaging something important. I guess it's no big deal, but I just don't like breasts on reptiles
