Wanted to throw in something quick for the weekend of Kong, because I will tell you straight up that aside from King Kong vs. Godzilla which I grew up loving I was never the biggest Kong fan, with all due respects of course to his status as the first true giant monster/kaiju in modern media. I'm not one to jump on bandwagons at all but I will sincerely tell you Skull Island is my favorite Kong of them all, I enjoyed the film from start to finish and am very satisfied with it. Of course it makes it all the more awesome for me that it's an official part of the Monsterverse Legendary has established and that we can look forward to a giant sized rematch with the King of the Monsters, but the movie on its own was fantastic, I won't speak an ill word about it here because any nitpicks I have are so small as to not matter. All respect to the mammal king of beasts and we're proud to have him.Related content

After reading the prequel comics they should've let Kong finished her off in this fashion.

i just saw it ! and yes it was good ! although the 3d hurt my eyes a bit .. one thing though ( besides a few ^^ ) those skull walkers do they not remind you of that thing that climbed up the vine (after the scene where Kong knocked the guys off the log) and almost got Jack until he cut the vine it was climbing up ?

We went in 2D, too many people in my family or friends have ocular issues that make the 3D too much of a pain to deal with, but it's fine I've never been too enamored with 3D anyway. I have to admit my memory fails me though to the reference, I assume you're talking about the Jackson Kong from 2005 because I only ever saw it twice

I went to the early morning showing, and felt bad for everyone who didn't stick around long enough for the ending credits....I completely nerded out harder than I had for any of the Marvel ending creds, might be for the best the theater was mostly empty at that point XD

I just saw Skull Island today, and it was glorious! Everything about it was amazing, from the island itself to Kong and all his new beastly enemies, and subjects (love how he rescued "Mossy" lol). The human characters were a lot of fun too, hope some of them return in future Monsterverse films, granted they'll all have to either take place in the past or be much older than they were during the events of Skull Island, but still, it could work :3
The Skull Crawlers were perfect villains for the film, and their history with Kong not only made them that much scarier, but also made you want to root for Kong in every encounter. They really did a good job of showcasing Kong as both a monster to be afraid of, as well as a noble and sympathetic character. Not gonna lie, there were some pretty heart warming/heart breaking moments when ya felt for the big ape, not unlike how ya felt for Godzilla during his struggles to stop the Muto when ya realized how old and tired he actually was despite his power, and like Kong, they're both the last of their kind, trying to fulfill their roles in a prehistoric ecosystem on the verge of going out of control with the odds stacked against them. Ironic really since they're destined to fight each other, these two kings are kindred spirits in a way. Great pic of Kong vs the Skull Crawler, and nice homage to the 1933 Kong vs T-Rex fight as well >;3

Agreed, I loved the way they rewrote a little Kong history and made the Crawlers his arch enemies with a history, really grounded the kaiju action, gave it a purpose and elevated the experience. I'm so very happy with Kong and am glad we have it, it will easily help tide me over until 2019 and it did what few films have which is get me excited about Kong again
