As old as the stars themselves, the great old ones, creatures from other dimensions and worlds not our own have sought power either through force or the manipulation of the dominate sentient beings of whatever world they occupy. But by far one of the most sinister and enigmatic of these being is Cthulhu himself, a giant octopoid-esque being who according to the Shobjin, is Quote,

" The one creature in this world Mothra truly hates, and one day he shall rise from his dark city and he and his spawn and allies will try to take back the land"

Cthulhu has cults of humans dedicated to his freedom and worship the world over but the most prominent of these are in the southern United States, parts of Europe, Arabia, and Tibet. Cthulhu is the son of Shub Nirgath and an unknown deity, also the half brother to HASTUR, and brother of the good god KTHANID, and father Cythllya, Zoth Ommog, and Ythogtha. Cthulhu dwell s in the sunken city of Ry'leh where he is worshiped by the fish like creatures called the deep ones who also seek to free him from his under water prison. Cthulhu’s reach may be further than anyone may have previously realized as Simeon defectors claim that a creature similar to Cthulhu was deified on their world as well and the nebulans are terrified of the very sight of him, even on Urth strange markings found in the area Vertigo claims seem to depict a giant winged octopus. Spacegodzilla is all to aware of this threat to his plans for domination of the universe and has gone out of his way to ensure that Cthulhu does not return.
