Description
Submitted work for my digital art class this year. Particularly loving this semester because the subject of this project was left entirely up to the individual student and not picked by the teacher (so you can imagine what I naturally went for right off the bat!).Created and rendered in Photoshop CS6.

I love this concept! In retrospect, I'm surprised no one thought of it sooner - which, I suppose, is the hallmark of an awesome idea.
I've taken the liberty of inviting the pic to , as I think the group will enjoy it as well. I hope you'll consider accepting.

Yes! I know it takes away from the Lovecraftian horror, but I think Godzilla would do pretty well in this fight.

Who do you think would win? Will Godzilla turn Cthulhu into calamari or will he turn Godzilla into a pair of boots and a handbag?

An interesting question. Cthulhu is all about inspiring madness and terror in those that encounter it. Godzilla, on the other hand, is pretty much an antagonistic force of nature that doesn't hesitate to attack anything that might pose a threat (or annoy him, or even catch his attention for that matter). So in a battle between insanity and destruction, I think I would have to lean towards Godzilla on this one.
What do you think?

I do not care who wins as long it is a good fight. I see Godzilla as the natural predator of humanity. I think he is neither good or evil but is one of those who keeps the war between good and evil eternal. Do you understand what i mean? My english is sometimes a little rusty.

I totally understand. Godzilla to me was always more of a reactionary force of nature than just a big animal. To me, his battles with other monsters are not so much about saving people or getting rid of a possible rival, but simply destroying that which didn't have the common sense to get out of his way.

Actually, Cthulhu is not a god, he's the high or great priest of a god. Yes, he's being worshipped like a god, but in the pantheon of Lovecraft creatures Cthulhu actually has a job!
And I like the picture, too. Cthulhu looks to be in good shape.

Very nice. I'm gonna say Godzilla might win. Because not only he's some god, but he was born with nuclear radiation.

Godzilla is not really a god as much as a force of nature. And he's no stranger to fighting gods (or kaiju that are worshipped as gods) himself, so he would probably stand a fair chance against Cthulhu.

Cthulhu's a god too. It's really hard to tell who'd win this fight honestly.

The thing I've always liked about the idea of Godzilla vs. Cthulhu is that they're similar monsters, but embody opposite attitudes of Man vs. Nature.
Cthulhu is a creature of the pre-nuclear eras that represented a universe governed not by a loving god, but held hostage by maddening abominations. It's the worst way of thinking about the future.
Godzilla on the other hand is a a creature once thought of as a monster born of god-playing hubris, but adopted as our protector as we came to understand nuclear forces.
So what do we do when we're faces with a hopeless universe with no good gods? We make our own. When we are faced with the menace of the darkness of space, we explore ahead- our path lit with nuclear fire.
Romantic ideas about the fate of humanity AND giant reptiles punching each other!? HOW IS THIS NOT A MOVIE!?

If Cthulhu is the fear of what we don't know, Godzilla is the fear of what we cannot control.

To be more accurate, Godzilla never trully care about humans, he had only fight other giant monsters because they were a threat for him and/or the rest of the planet.
Godzilla is the personification of the force of nature itself, that it unleash everytime either something is threating the world.
But he is also a punishment for humanity, for playing god with something that we never be able to control, but that instead we thought differently due of our arrogance.

AWESOME!!! Two of the best monsters going head to head. Godzilla arriving to restore order to nature while Cthulhu awakens to bring never ending chaos to the world. Oh! Can you make a pic of The original Megazord vs Ultraman?

So glad you like it! Unfortunately, you will probably never see me create that image you just asked for. I never watched Ultraman so I don't know that much about it. And being that I murderously despise everything under or related to the 'Power Rangers' brand, the only way I'll draw a Megazord is if it involves a mildly inconvenienced Godzilla walking over its smoldering, irradiated wreckage.

The original actor who played godzilla believes that the Showa (1955-1975) incarnation of Godzilla is female, as do I And movie studios made Frankenstein's monster into a sub human beast that could barely speak let alone quote john milton. So I tend to disregard anything that comes from a studios mouth as to the original vision.

Or, at least, something we can just barely classify as male. One can never be too sure with Lovecraft's creations.
