Description
To me, this would be the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of monster fights (two great monsters that fight great together). In the red corner, we have Tiamat -- primordial dragon goddess who, according to D&D lore, is the mother of all evil dragons. And in the blue corner, we have the delightfully belligerent Godzilla -- bastard spawn of the nuclear age and probably the only monster brave/crazy enough to get all up in Tiamat's face(s). Hope everyone has as much fun viewing this piece as I did in creating it.Sketched and rendered in Photoshop and critiques are welcome. Also, I'm curious to see who you think would win in this kind of fight so feel free to leave comments.

Good news, Tiamat will be appearing in the Godzilla Monsterverse but I don't think she will look like the Goddess in the DnD description but rather a Prehistoric Titan.

Makes sense. Tiamat originally appeared in ancient Babylonian myth as a primordial being. They're probably going with that direction. Besides, King Ghidorah might see something with more heads and get jealous (head envy?).Β

I got curious of what Species Godzilla really is and I pointed to myself as a missing link between Crocodiles and Birds even Dinosaurs. Know what I mean?

Not sure. In some of the 60s/70s movies, Godzilla is considered a hybrid of stegosaurus and tyrannosaurus rex. In the 90s he was his own separate species Godzillasaurus. Amd then again, a lot of the scientific 'theory' mentioned in some of those movies is a little dubious β STILL wrapping my head around the concept that Jet Jaguar PROGRAMMED himself to grow to fight Megalon (it's totally OK to say 'I don't have a clue how this happened' rather than spout that craziness!).Β

I remember my dad showing me episodes of the cartoon version of D&D, though I am not into D&D I remember that dragon character always appearing in the intro and some guy riding a black pegasus, I was probably around the age of 7 when I first saw it. Right now I'm 17 years old.
Anyways great artwork.

Yes, that sorcerer was named Venger (he was riding a nightmare, a sort of bat-winged demon-horse). He was the main antagonist of the series and Tiamat was the only creature he was truly afraid of (because Venger was sensible, of course - who wouldn't be afraid of that?!). Thanks for enjoying the art piece.

Not really. Friends of mine played, but I was never really a fan of online multiplayer RPGs. I was always of the mind to play a single game in my home, finish it up, and then move on.Β

Never watched Yu-Gi-Oh, to be honest. Tiamat and Godzilla are both very old-school.

Possible. But in all fairness to Tiamat, she's not just Kaiju-level in terms of size and power, she's also brilliant and has a ton of god-magic at her disposal. Nothing for even Godzilla to underestimate.Β

still, Godzilla survive much worst than death. He went through Hell and fought Zeus, THE King of the Gods who sent him to the center of the Earth and comes out of a volcano from the city of Pompeii. I think he can withstand some magic from other gods and goddesses. Β

Certainly a good point. Tiamat may use similar tactics and transport him somewhere instead of wasting health and resources fighting him. Might be for the best, now that I think of it. It's easier just to distract and redirect the Big G rather than fight him.Β

Right. And to an immortal goddess, she can just transport him again and again and again until the end of eternity. Granted, it's a pretty dull story, but Tiamat doesn't care about YOUR entertainment.

I say Godzilla wins like effortlessly, even if the heat of Godzilla's Atomic Breath doesn't effect Tiamat, the sheer force and power behind it will ! Godzilla has done some many incredible feats ! He was able to match Thor in strength, escape from Hell itself,Survive a Black Hole, take a meteor to the face without a scratch, destroy Earth in his clash with SpaceGodzilla, defeated the Olympian Gods and fought the Avengers and X-Men to a stand still !
Even without his Atomic Breath,Godzilla is still considerable bigger and stronger that Tiamat !

It's still a matter of debate. You have RPG fans saying it's all Tiamat (citing her advantages in magic, intellect, resources, etc.) vs. G-fans who call it for Godzilla (radiation, regeneration, savagery, etc.). I guess I like to see nerds argue.

Yu-Gi-Nos In reply to AndrewDeFelice [2017-01-14 00:28:30 +0000 UTC]
I like friendly debates myself, and I enjoy the idea of this conflict
Tiamat has an immunity to all fire/heat, so the heat from Gojira's Atomic Breath would be useless. I think Tiamat is immune to poisons, so I wonder if nuclear radiation would even hurt her (though other Kaijus Gojira's fought weren't protected from Radiation yet they survived with no ill effects).
The physical aspects of the Atomic Breath (well, for those that have them... Shin GOjira didn't have pressure in its breath for example) is a good question. Thus, a good fight!

Technically, Tiamat in the D&D world is already a true goddess. And Godzilla is no stranger to fighting gods as it is (Mothra is worshipped as one) so it would still be a great fight.Β

Yeah. Then I moved to Texas. Which I'm leaving soon.
But the best part was when I was riding a Platinum Dragon named Scourge. We were in the middle of a massive battle against giants and their allies. One of those allies were Drow. My group and I were leading an army of Dragons. Metallic and Non.
