Amid the radioactive fallout induced by Burning Godzilla and Destroyah, a small portal to a dimension very much like our own opened, unfortunately something saw through that portal and some of them wanted to visit.

SAURON

The world of URTH was almost identical to our own save the humans were highly advanced, until an object for the stars collided with it and reduced these humans to primitive cave dwellers, and it awoke ancient kaiju-like Dinosaur gods.
Sauron, the god of hunger, his human followers considered being devoured by him to be a great honor, but his ravenous hunger also forced him to devour the followers of his fellow gods thus forcing him into the war known as the primal rage. Sauron saw through the rift caused in 1995 and saw a world where humans were not numbered in the hundreds of thousands but in the billions and he would find a way there and feast.
