Oooooo . . . hard call!Β  In the movies we see "Creech" overturn a heavy 1950s sedan . . . swat down a California mountain lion like a fly . . . almost pull the Rita under by dragging on a net cable . . . But Dunkleosteus is about as nasty and huge as it got before the Mesozoic.Β  I'm afraid it'd be like the Terminator vs. the hydraulic press -- and the press didn't have huge, chisel-like teeth!

Great idea and great print!

I hate to say that despite being a classic movie monster, I don't think Gillman stands a chance against the jaws of a Dunkleosteus.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

GreenScar1990 In reply to Strikerprime [2015-10-01 12:44:24 +0000 UTC]

I don't believe that to be true. Gill-Man does possess immense strength. Imagine if he catches the jaws of this beast and simply breaks them, similar to how Kong does to a T-rex. Plus, he's very fast/swift in the water, probably a lot more so than Dunkleosteus. This combination of strength and speed could definitely be in the Gill-Man's favor.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Strikerprime In reply to GreenScar1990 [2015-10-01 16:12:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, I still highly doubt that even Gillman could survive if a Dunkleosteus managed to sink its jaws into him.

But despite that, you make a very fair point.

mortalshinobi In reply to Strikerprime [2015-10-01 03:06:09 +0000 UTC]

yep. was gonna' say, i think gillman is gonna' meet his end here. dunkleostus has armor piercing teeth and a savage reputation to boot!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Strikerprime In reply to mortalshinobi [2015-10-01 04:38:29 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Gillman doesn't really have anything going for him.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mortalshinobi In reply to Strikerprime [2015-10-01 04:39:46 +0000 UTC]

nah, he is a man with fish/frog qualities. not exactly anything that'll do any good fighting off something like dunkelostus

God, wouldn't that be an awesome twist for a Creature from the Black Lagoon remake? The expedition discovers that the Amazon waters conceal a whole ecosystem of prehistory water beasts, but even after one or two folks get eaten by monsters, they still have to contend with the fact that The Creature poses the greatest threat because he's the most human.

Komodozilla In reply to mdizzle999872 [2015-09-30 15:37:34 +0000 UTC]

Dunkleosteus, a gigantic armored fish roughly the size of an orca. It lived in the Devonian era seas (the same time period the Gillman here comes from). It had two blade-like plates instead of teeth, which allowed it to slice through prey, such as primitive sharks.

ToxicMouse77 In reply to mdizzle999872 [2015-10-01 07:30:11 +0000 UTC]

That isn't the end of it. It;s jaws were so strong that any time it opened its mouth, it would basically make a vacuum and pull prey in. Imagine a bus sized guillotine that could pull you under the blade all by itself.
