He's one of the world's most famous monsters. Why wouldn't someone remember him?

Yet a ton of times people mainly talk about zombies, frankenstein monsters, vampires or werewolves.

You're forgetting the lake monster. They always have the the lake monster even if its not called Gill-man.

This is great! It would be interesting to see more ancient Aquatic creatures surviving in the Black Lagoon. After all if the Creature's species could survive there for so long why not others? And the Dunkleosteus is an excellent choice- one of my personal favorites.

Outstanding work, but you made the Dunkleosteus' cutters look like teeth, which are actually bone. Nonetheless, amazing work as always.

No really, there is a movie called Devil fish.
MST3K's crew made fun ofΒ it, and it was one of their bestΒ XD

I believe that Dunkleosteus is gonna regret trying to make a meal out of the Gill-Man, whose known to snap crocodiles in two with relative ease. What do you think, Matt?

Dinalfos5 [2015-09-30 06:12:33 +0000 UTC]

Interesting. So is this implying the Gillman is a relict from the Devonian? Quite an advanced creature with a huge array of advanced traits far more advanced than anything else in that era it would seem, since some of those fish din't even have jaws. Or is he from a region full or relicts from the Devonian and this is the modern era? Still looks like it's about to becomeΒ Dunkleosteus chow, I doubt there is much it can do at this point. I like the inclusion of other Devonian creatures like the trilobites and theΒ Stethacanthus sharks with the anvil fins. Β

The Gillman is refered to as a creature from the Devonian in "Creature from the Black Lagoon"

Dinalfos5 In reply to MugenSeiRyuu [2015-09-30 22:17:26 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, interesting. They obviously mean a relict from the Devonian era, unless it literally travelled through time, as it' species would have to have survived the countless millions of years through 3 major extinction events. I really don't think it would fit the paelobiology of that era, it looks like it would probably have been more accurately Permian, since it has many advanced traits not seen in Devonian creatures, since the Devonian barely even had Amphibians in that Period. Perhaps it's descended from a species of fish that developed terrestrial traits back in the Devonian independent of modern Tetrapods, but it spent the eons evolving into a humanoid form. I doubt it would have had arms and legs like that back in the Devonian, it would have probably just had legs as primitive as Icthyostega and other stem amphibians. But then again, I'm probably thinking way too much into this.Β
I think it's just a case of the screen writers not knowing an accurate era to place the beast in, similar to how there are terrestrial reptile people in Doctor Who known as the Silurians, despite the fact that there were barely fish with jaws in that period, let along amphibians or reptiles. Β

MugenSeiRyuu In reply to Dinalfos5 [2015-09-30 22:41:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes, they meant a relict. And the movie states that the Gillman has not changed since that time. It is also called a "missing link" between fish and man. So yeah, they took some liberties...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dinalfos5 In reply to MugenSeiRyuu [2015-10-01 00:34:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's kind of skipping a couple hundred steps in between Fish and Human. That's far more of a face palm than just having something so humanoid in the Devonian and have it be a living fossil, thinking it goes Fish-> fish-man -> man without using proper amphibians, reptiles, synapsids, mammals or primates in between.Β
