The official bio:
"To some, a monitor lizard is an abomination, a savage flesh eating lizard with the look of a serpent, the teeth of a shark, and the claws of a bird of prey. To others it's these very features that make a monitor the ideal pet! One of the most popular types of pet monitor during the age of man was the Nile Monitor. But these African lizards were often released, or escaped from their handlers. This occurred even in the temperate parts of Florida. Here, these lizards were able to establish a foot hold and rapidly set up a thriving wild population. They were already accustomed to dealing with serpents and large crocodilians in their native Africa, so the only true threat to their survival was man. When Tiamat removed them from the equation, the lizards thrived, even in the insect burdened world that resulted. They returned to a size slightly larger than their largest ancestor, the giant Megalania, and adopted strong pack behavior. These Florida Monitors dig elaborate underground tunnel networks that serve as rapid access/exit points to their hunting grounds. It's in this manner that they're able to raid even the territories of the lethal mosquito hives, launching surprise attacks on creatures in these regions, even warrior and worker mosquitos, then retreating to their underground passages, collapsing the tunnel behind them if need be. With their sharp claws, and broadly shaped snouts, the only diggers more efficient in Salvatica are the giant Megas Wyrms, and the deadly Death Wyrms of Northern Bull Head."
