King Kong vs Godzilla from 1962 had Kong bumped up to Godzilla's stature and was given an "electric touch" attack so he could fight the Big G on more even terms.
Legendary has since announced that they're going to make Godzilla vs Kong 2020, a follow up to Godzilla 2014 and Kong: Skull Island.

I hope not honestly. Keep King Kong as he aways has been; a badass with tons of strength and fighting experience and intelligence and speed and agility and all that. unlike other monsters, Kong doesn't need regeneration or beams, he should be brute strength.
