Strange you got that from my comment. I made an observation about the over-saturation of kaiju board games*, not of the board game's quality.
I suppose I should be grateful. At least most of them actually came out.

I've been trying to work on an official Godzilla board game for years, but those projects keep falling through.
Also, "choose a more well-suited game"? You have to understand, that's not how the industry or being an artist works. They approached me, and it seemed like a fun idea. It's a very limited-budget project and I had fun doing it. I didn't create the game and I don't own the company.

According to the website MSRP is $39.99. Is that a good price for what one gets? Mind you I haven't brought a board game in 20 years or so, so I don't know.

I've checked other kaiju board game prices. Assuming you're in the US there's Kaiju Crush, Attack of the Kaiju and King of Tokyo: New Edition for less than $40. They come with cut-out cardboard props representing the monsters in those games (dunno about the buildings though).
I'd say no, it's not, but it's up to you.

"40" is an extreme exaggeration in the interest of bad-faith criticism. There's a handful of kaiju games out there for various budgets and play styles. King of Tokyo is, well, the king. Monsterpocalyse is a much more expensive investment for miniature enthusiasts. Godzilla: Kaiju World Wars was met with lukewarm reception and has been promptly forgotten.
I personally like Terror In Meeple City - it's a lot of setup but really fun and super interactive.
By Mechanic Orga's logic, the fact that there's a lot of Godzilla and other kaiju movies must be a tremendous burden because they all must be the same.

Board games are not comparable to movies, you Dilbert. I'm not saying Smash City is bad or that you shouldn't have done it. I'm saying there's tons of them, because as you've said, they're cheaper to manufacture than videogames. Most kaiju games nowadays are either board games, card games or lazy mobile phone games.

Monsterpocalyse is a Miniatures game, actually.  With 3-D minis that you can paint yourself.  It's a dedicated war game, as opposed to the others, and it's very good.  I wear the faction symbol of the Subterran Uprising as my avatar.
