I've seen Mjollnir symbols before and I'm curious about a few things. Is the head of the hammer supposed to be the bottom? What can you tell me about the images woven into it?

Yes, the bottom part is the hammer's head doesn't matters how it is shaped. Sometimes a head symbolysing Thor appears at the top of the figure.
I chosen stylized dragons, found it more fitting to make ornaments of creatures a weapon could kill. Still the Midgard Serpent could have been better, but for designing reasons dragons made a better layout.

I'm not up on my Thor lore, but did he kill any dragons? I know he fights giants often. I also can't exactly remember what the Midgard Serpent did.
Still this looks great.

Didn't searched much about the dragon myths when chosing this pattern, but they looked better with the variousity in their body structure than making a snake depicted as a string folded into a knot. The Midgard Serpent was the giant snake around the Earth, Thor killed it, but got himself killed too in their battle.

Thank you, it looked nice in pure white clay, but in the end gave it a tarnished paint, that brought out better the outlines of the ornaments

Yeah it really brings the detail out, I do the same with my work, although I agree the white clay does have a nice look to it too!!
