Look familiar? It should! When I can't think of anything to draw and I'm not trying to teach myself new things, I obviously jump back into redrawing old pics I've uploaded before. This time's victim?? This old pic from 2013 that I've honestly never really liked that much, but the shading and over all atmosphere of it's always been one of my favs. For the 2013 version being one of my last fully colors pics before I up and disappeared for literally years, I'm totally satisfied with how much better this looks! <3And for those waiting, I'll see about answering comments still left in my notifs later tonight too

I am happy with the improvement here though, especially since I haven't draw much in the 6 years in between this pic and the original one! All that time in between obviously made me forget a lot of my old techniques, but it's so nice to see I still know a thing or two about my own style xD

But thanks though! I've been out of drawing all together so long that I feel like I've having to relearn a lot of my old techniques all over again. That, and a lot of my sketch book now days is filled with these human characters that drawing all my old OCs feels like a challenge in itself sometimes. But it's been fun though! c:

Between the two of them, each have things over the other. Valon def looks much more juvenile with this one over the previous. The larger eyes, larger pupils, and the rounder face are what make him look younger.
In this one he looks like he is starting to turn toward the shot/audience itself. Adding to a more juvenile appearance. That's by no means a bad thing art wise. It shows a younger side of the him I never got to see in the past.
The original he looks older, he has a more content, and pleased expression. The angling on the eyes is probably the biggest factor that changes it from a wise leader, to a learning apprentice.
The background today certain though has its improvements, the smaller touches on highlights and stars being the bigger thing I noticed and help a lot with the atmosphere of the picture.
In all, today's version Valon looks much younger, like an apprentice ready to train with his mentor, going as far to be spunky and make competition with it. Past's there is a leader whose seen a lot, both good and bad, and is looking to an apprentice. Today's versus the past almost feels like a self reflection for him, which is really cool.
Both versions are really good each with their own feel. Lookin forward to seein more from ye Kasa!

I think the reason why I never liked the original all that much despite liking the overall atmosphere *tons* was that Valon was never supposed to have that 'old, seasoned leader' vibe to him?? Experienced is probably what I'd call him more than 'wise', though most of his time spent as the AE Leader was more or less him trying to figure out how to make a group of wild cats all listen to him like he knew what he was doing. He learned that closer to the end kinda sorta, but I still feel like he ended up with the injury that made him step down early enough to fall just short of that 'wise leader' mark.
But omg thank you though! There's been roughly 6 years in between today's and the original, so just to hear you say the word 'improvement' is definitely good enough for me, especially since I've honestly not draw hardly at all in between though 6 years lmao. It's taken me awhile to work the rust back out of my style and I still feel like I don't have it exactly ALL back down yet, but I'm working on it!
I feel like I've had a bit of a style change again since my last time here so hopefully I don't throw you guys too off lol
