No, I tried to make a GREEN palette that ended up looking blue-green. So I went with red instead.

oops i meant tried making green and ended up blue, but i somehow ended up writing blue twice...

i really like your sprites. i've been gaining interest in sprites myself lately, what program(s) do you use, adobe fireworks?

I didn't think Adobe Fireworks even remotely dealt with stuff like this... but I don't use it, so I wouldn't know

No, I'm not a big fan of Adobe products. I use Jasc Paintshop Pro 7. There are a bunch of good free programs though. Like GraphicsGale. It's made specifically for pixel art.

for the (very little ) animation i did, i took the separate "frames" from photoshop/fireworks then animated them in flash.
so i wouldn't know about fireworks animation either, thats just what i see and hear, and anytime i want to look at sprites they usually open up in fireworks.

so would you say Adobe is one of those big expensive names that isn't as functional as less known cheaper stuff?

lastly, so jasc can make sprites AND animate them to this level (your work)?

Jasc Paintshop also comes with Jasc Animation Shop, so yeah, I guess you could say it can do both.

I've just never been a fan of adobe products because in my experience they take forever to load and are overburdened with features I just don't need. Paintshop Pro 7 is a little old, but I like it. You assign a color to the left and right mouse click (like in MS Paint), and can zoom in up to 32 times size with the mouse wheel. And it zooms in automatically to wherever your mouse pointer is, so navigating around a canvas is easy. You never have to touch the scroll bars.

But I've done pixel art in MS Paint too. The tool isn't what matters so much as the interface. All you really need to do pixel art is a 1 pixel brush. So I'd recommend just working with a program you're used to.

i remember i used to use a program that had that left and right color function, and missed it. was just thinking about it the other day when i was using a program too...

i was actually using MS Paint to color some sprites for a quick animation the other week, and an instructor really harassed me about it. wondering why i wasn't using adobe and such, and in the end ended up telling me it wasn't very professional. but i mean in the end as long as it's in the same file format, it doesn't really matter what you use... even though i was only using it as a quick cut and paste method, since as you said adobe has that load time... opening the progam, saving it... file sizes... i mean i didn't need a PDF i just wanted a quick save to see how many frames and how well an animation would look in flash, but she gave me a lecture... but anyway, so do you use different programs depending on what job you intend to do as well, or is jasc your main?

I always use Jasc for pixel art. It's mostly because I've had access to it for years, so I know my way around the program pretty well.

Sometimes if I feel like trying to paint I'll open up Corel Painter.

So what is the difference between a Brawler and... er... that one I asked about in the other set? Is it a class promotion?

The name

Nothin' else really. Not that it matters. It's not like these go to anything real.
