I think the angle should be tilted closer to side view as the red girl would definitely cover most parts of the witch girl behind, that way the hug would be much closer or the witch girl can squeezes the red girl as tight as she wants. Also, you forgot to add blush to the red girl's cheeks.
As for the background, you can actually paint it in new file and create a mask for the 2 leads in the composition. Then you add another transparent layer (multiply or overlay) as light and mood to blend both together as one. What more, leaves fall at autumn so I think there should be some falling leaves.
There are many ways to paint a composition in digital format and all it takes is proper planning. Knowing your tools well can help you a lot in your digital painting, you just have to experiment with it or seek lecturers advices. Keep it up
