Man I love Giant Robo! So many awesome characters, and so many awesome villains!! Take this guy for example.Voiced by none other than TOUHOFUHAI, he can out run vehicles on foot and throw shockwaves about that could rip a person apart. That and he's got an AWESOME mecha-monocle.

Little bit of trivia do you now that lord alberto is actually a character from the manga "mars" as one of "the six of new york" i like that imagawa includes cameos of other characters of mitsuteru yokoyama's work from tetsujin 28-go , mars , etc OMG it's so amazing

man, I would love if they did a giant robo series with everything after Daisaku gets Robo to before "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Then we can see more of Taisu and Alberto's rival and how he lost his eye!

Yeah... I was hoping for something more promising, like the third Genrai special was how I'd want a ROBO series to be. International Agents in the field stoping Big Fire, and having Robo hop too it on every so often. And every season would unfold a large plot with a couple of the Magnificent Ten.
But no... Eva with Scuba Shop Dad. And Shinji... the worst teen to get a giant robot since Armaro's Worst Moments in Moblie Suit Gundam. Though I love Gundam... but I was always glad when those kids get slapped. Gah... and metal music. You have delievered sad news my friend...

Yeah, I'll check out the manga, because I so desperately want to find out more about the Celestial 9. I just think it's brillant that there are 10 top bad guys (not including Big Fire) and 9 top good guys. Which means the goodies are always at a disadvantage... but the 9 they have must be KILLER strong! BIG BANG PUNCH!!!! (DOOOOOMM!)
I wanted to read the Big-O manga for the same reason... hopefully they really explain what the hell was going on in that city of Forgetfulness! Gaahh... no Piece for a couple weeks too... perfect timing!

Wangst!Daisaku needs a Brightslap. But yes, unfortunately Robo's potential was completely lost on the new series. I mean, soon as I saw what they did to Daisaku's Dad...augh... How do you go from BAD ASS F*CKIN SCIENTIST WITH A SCAR OH GOD THERE'S BLOOD EVERYWHERE, HE'S SUCH A MAN! To half-drunken lame ass scuba shop owner??
I pray that wasn't really his dad and that we'll see his real dad later, but I sure as hell ain't sittin through Eva Robo for that.
You should check the new manga though. First chapter we get to see all of the Celestial 9! They rock. And more Cervantes action!! My biggest/only real complaint with the manga is Ginrei is NOTHING but fan service in it. She really has no purpose other than panty shots and the author doesn't even try to hide it.
Ginrei Special...Episode 2, I LOL'd SO HARD. The dub really makes it. Ivan: This is hot! This is so freakin hot!! And the bathroom scene XDDD I knew Ivan was a pimp through and through! And lol Ko Enshaku.

Arrgh I know~ I was hopeful with the new Giant Robo series that's coming out this year, but it's only based off the original GR manga, not the OVA, so no one but Daisaku and Robo are in it. On top of that I saw the first ep and it was nothing but super serious/psudo realistic doom/gloom war story.
Apparently Daisaku's dad is now the owner of a scuba shop and Daisaku himself has been upgraded (in a bad way) to Shinji-level angst-teen!
The music is all hard core metal, the characters are basically Eva/Gasaraki quality, and then actually meeting up with Robo was one of the most overdone "omg will it kill me or not?" lame fests I've ever seen. It just...aint Giant Robo...
The new GR manga however is very cool. Set in the OVA universe and so far it's crazy happenings going on.

Oh man, Giant Robo was on SRW 64? That is the most awesome thing I've ever heard. And HELL yes you must watch Giant Robo, it is the amazing. Hell I ordered the box set the very day I first saw it with a friend, it's THAT GOOD.
