Description
This is the map of Calyrra 's home planet , as it appears from space (minus the cloud layer, obviously).

The planet is very rich in vegetation. Even in the hotter regions around the equator, there are resilient plants which evolved to store or live with very little water.
Unbeknown to the planet's inhabitants, certain plants also make use of the chaotic energies from the Kaleidoscope, which are rather weak at that distance, but present nevertheless.

Chryphora's crust contains large amounts of copper, especially in the Southwest of the central continent, where a meteorite brought even more of that element with it.
In that region, there is enough copper to color the ground accordingly. Copper compounds are also why the color of the plants leans towards a bluish green.

After the height map was finished, I started creating the color map in GIMP.
For this, I painted several different vegetation and ground textures onto the continents, and used the grayscale height map to mask out the watery and snow-capped regions.
Occasionally, I switched to Blender's texture paint mode for blurring the seams and for painting the polar regions which are too distorted in the planar texture.
