Description
For some unknown reason, I can't find the Dogs & Cats category, so this went to domesticated animalsRandom dog photographed in a Match Show, very beautiful bitch. She was joy to take photos of and this one is actually one of the very first good digital slr photos I've taken. I'm quite proud of it and like this photo a lot for that reason.
Please comment before faving - I don't like pleading but it means a lot to me.

I have this photo pinned to my wall. It's such a perfect portrait, the dog has such a dignified presence and she represents her breed so well.

Awesome I remember her well (this was my first time really outside taking photos of animals with my DSLR!), she was a wonderful model.

Gorgeous dog. I'm a big fan of German Shorthairs, myself. My boss' husband has one and she's an absolute doll.

She is and I like the breed very much too. She actually was the first german shorthair I've met in person, so she had quite a effect on me. Lovely dog indeed ^^.

Thanks ^^. And you're right about that, some animals are just harder to take photos than others. This one sat like a statue and posed really nicely though

I want one that looks exactly like that! You should try photographing Dalmatians.. Now thats a challenge as I get stuck taking photos of them all the time

Well, my experiences with Dalmatians have been good. The one I have photo in my gallery (and the other one from the same owner who I photographed at the same time) were quite nice and easy to take photos of. I think it's more about the individual dog and how the trainee works with him or her, for example the golden retriever Jasu was very high-spirited and even though his owner is a good handler, she couldn't really keep him long in one place. Difficult dog to shoot photos (he was so small I had to bend down on my knees and he of course wanted to come kiss me or my lense), but with fast camera and patient owner those photos turned out good too ^^.

my boyfriends dogs seem to be like that.. you get down on your knees and there all over you.. there mostly in fence yards and leg into a paddock to get there exercise.. and besides dog show related stuff there not around people much, i really think when they're puppies they need to be around people a lot.. then they clam down when there adults

Yeah, where the hell has it gone! Why is always the r-.. I mean category gone! I vote for the glitch too, or they just think cats and dogs go under dom. animals from now on.
I think so too, this girl was really nice ^^.

It used to bug me when my dog pictures got moved to dogs and cats, but now it just annoys me to have to sort through the dogs and cats to find horses. xD

wow the colours are beautiful! I love that rich, almost purpley red colour on dogs. I think one thing that could make it better was if they eyes were slightly more in focus. But other than that, lovely shot

Thank you very much ^^. I actually noticed afterwards that I loaded the pic with focus on the nose. I don't know yet will I change it to the one with focus on the eyes or not, because I like this one too

Hehe I'd love any dog, really. Except the small ones (basset hound doesn't count)... Hunting dogs can be active other ways than just hunting, my sisters younger irish wolfhound loved it when we took him to a crosscountry training run ^^.
